Year 6 News
Fri 21 Apr 2023Year 6 have had a great week this week. We know it has been tricky for them with lots of SATS preperation going on but we are really proud of the resilience that they are displaying. As a token of their hard work and continued effort, we wanted to reward them with their own year 6 leavers hoody! We hope they like them! It is something they can take home, wear with pride and use as a token to remember the fantastic times that they have had during their education at Albany Junior School.

Year 5 News
Fri 21 Apr 2023It was so lovely to see all the children back after Easter. On Monday, we had our first swimming session. Whilst the children didn't spend much time in the pool, it was a really important session determining the pool they would be swimming in. We have started out new topic - Scotland - and have already had a debate in English about whether or not the Loch Ness Monster is real. In maths, we have been using a protractor to measure angles which is always a little tricky but they all did really well.

Class 5 News
Fri 31 Mar 2023We have had a fantastic week in Year 5. On Monday, we got to finish out batiks. The children worked really hard to carefully use melted wax to add their flower design to their silk. They then used a special ink to add and blend colour to their flowers. The end results were amazing! On Tuesday, we had a whole school visit to St Helens Church for an Easter service where children made a wish for the future. Thursday was our Easter disco afterschool and it was so lovely to see so many children dancing away. Today has been a brilliant day. We have been finishing off our topics for the term and this afternoon was the end of term behaviour treat. We are so proud of how fantastic our children and it was great to see so many Year five children in the hall celebrating their positive behaviour choices this term. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter!

Year 6 News
Fri 31 Mar 2023The final week of this term has been a busy one! We visited St Helen's Church for our Easter service, which linked to our RE work, where we thought about the sacrifice that Jesus made and why Easter is an important celebration for Christians. In DT, we designed our fairground rides and began making them. It was lovely to invite adults into class, to help out too during our parent workshop. It hasn't been easy and we have had to persevere with a few different challenges but they are looking great and they move! After Easter, we will finish these off by adding extra details to them.
After half term, PE for Year 6 will be on Tuesdays. We hope you all have a lovely Easter break.

Year 6 News
Fri 24 Mar 2023Lots of the children have been to Hagg Farm this week on their residential trip. We can't wait to hear all about their adventures.
This week has been a bit different for the children, who have been in school. All of our work has been based on the Titanic. We have looked at evidence, to try and work out who was to blame for the disaster but we all had different theories. We also learnt more about the passengers, who were on the Titanic and created brilliant pieces of artwork, using watercolours. To end the week, we have made our own books, adding in information we have learnt.
