Spring Term

We have Knowledge Organisers for each topic that give key information and pictures to help us learn.

Science updates:

Spring 1 -

The children have really enjoyed getting their teeth in to their new unit of 'Forces'!

The children are able to explain what we mean when we talk about contact forces and why it is these are useful. They are also coming to a deeper understanding as to what friction is and how this interacts with these contact forces. The children particularly enjoyed testing how this worked on different types of surface.

Scientific investigations have been a great source of intrigue throughout this topic and have allowed the children to understand magnets and how they work.

Spring 2 -

After half term, children will begin to explore the topic 'Animals including humans'.

History updates:

The children are really taken by their new topic 'The Roman Empire'. They have enjoyed thinking about the origin of Rome and the story behind it as well as how this led to the structure of Roman society. A particular point of interest to the children, was finding out just how many of the resources we use today were invented by the Romans!

They have also spent time exploring Gladiators and understanding whether their lives could have possibly been happy ones. The children understand the impact that the Roman gods had on this, and why there were so many of them as a result. They even had chance to design our own!

After half term, we will start to think about 'Roman Britain'.
