I am really pleased as the new Head Teacher to be able to welcome you to the Albany Junior School website. I cannot believe I have been here for 9 years in a range of different roles. In that time lots has changed and the school has gone from strength to strength. We have an excellent team of staff that deliver a broad and balanced curriculum and a fabulous set of enrichment activities which help prepare our children for the next stage of their education. This is all underpinned by our 5Rs (Taking a Risk, Building Resilience, Building Positive Relationships, Showing Respect and Taking Responsibility).
We are very proud of our children. They have a great start at our Albany Collaboration partners (Albany Infant and Nursery School) and we work very hard with our parents and carers to ensure they make the necessary progress (academically and socially) whilst with us at the juniors. We have very high expectations of our children as do they of us.
This has been a challenging year for us all but I have loved being Head of School during these challenging times. I have no doubt 2021-2022 will present its own hurdles but we will face them together and overcome them. For us at Albany Juniors it is an exciting year of transformation with our building restoration. Personally, I am going to be the Full Time Head Teacher for Autumn term until the Governors have appointed a permanent Head Teacher moving forward from Spring term (fingers crossed it’s me!). Mrs Hubert our year 6 teacher will be acting as Assistant Head Teacher as part of the Senior Leader team until decisions about the permanent post have been made. She will be fantastic at supporting me in moving the school forward and we will both provide consistency for our children and our families.
