Young Interpreters

At Albany Junior School, we have just started a group of Young interpreters. These are children who have English as a Foreign Language who want to support other children, who start at our school, from another country with English as a Foreign Language.

Starting a new school can be tricky for anyone- but imagine starting a new school in a new country. It may be that you are fluent in English (a supportive friend would still be helpful) but imagine you have little English and the whole school day is overwhelming. This group can support this and those anywhere facing this challenge.

Currently, the training Young Interpreters speak the languages of Portuguese, Cantonese, Albanian, Ukrainian- Liia can speak Russian too, Hungarian and Afghan. They are absolute stars! We teach Spanish too in school...
