Mental Health & Wellbeing

Welcome to the wellbeing page for parents.

Our vision is to develop a school community where children can enjoy a welcoming, healthy, happy and safe environment. We want all of our children to be able to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, self motivation, independence, compassion, tolerance and understanding of others.

At Albany Junior School we support the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff in many ways. We have a supportive and caring ethos based around respect and kindness, where every individual is valued.

At Albany we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support.  We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play. Children at Albany are taught how to care for their mental health from the start of their enrolment and are encouraged to practise strategies learnt to maintain their wellbeing and that of others.

We have many options of support available for individuals who need additional support.

Mental Health Concern For Your Child

The school values the support of parents by working in partnership with them to support their child.   If you have a mental health concern about your child we encourage and welcome you to discuss this with us.

Mental Health Concern For Yourself

If you have a mental health concern about yourself, you are most welcome to discuss this with us. We can help you navigate the support that is available to you.

Mental Health and Wellbeing ‘in house’ provision – Albany Junior School – A graduated approach

Here at Albany Junior School we prioritise Mental Health and Wellbeing and believe it is of the utmost importance that it is treated very seriously and is just as important as any of the academic priorities in school. Below is a graduated approach to how we tackle Mental Health and Wellbeing in school within our remit as educational professionals. Children and families are placed on our pathway through various avenues, this could be self-referral, referral from parents or staff.
