Year 6 News
Fri 26 Jun 2026Everyone has continued to try their best in school despite the very warm weather.
We have completed our Scandinavia topic and in science, we have found out the effects of cholesterol on our heart and circulatory system. Some of the children visited Friesland for their transition days and were able to see what it will be like in September.
Next week, swimming begins so please ensure that the correct kit is in school every day.

Year 3 News
Fri 26 Jun 2026What a week! We are incredibly proud of how hard the children have tried this week in the heat we have had. They have worked hard to continue learning and they have really got their teeth into their Asia brochure. The children now understand the impact of both facts and opinions. We have also finished our time unit in Maths! The children now have a great understanding of different periods of time and can now work out the duration of different events using this. Next week, we will be starting to think about shape. Ask your child what they already know to prepare them.

Year 4 News
Fri 26 Jun 2026This week, we have survived in the extremely hot temperatures. We have started to write a persuasive letter to King Arthur and have completed the shape unit in Maths. We have now started Statistics. Continuing with Geography, the children labelled cities on a map. Next week Healthy Living Week .
Spellings for next week are Challenge words.

Year 5 News
Fri 26 Jun 2026What a scorcher!
Despite the hot weather, we have had a good week in Year 5. On Tuesday, everyone in school got to meet their new class teacher and spend the day in their new year group. It was so lovely to hear the children come back from their day really excited to move in to Year 6 in September. In maths this week, we have been focusing on decimals and using the four operations with decimals. Next week, we will be moving on to negative numbers. In English, we have continued reading the Snow Leopard and will soon start thinking about writing our own versions of the story.

Next week, Year 5 will be swimming every afternoon so please ensure they bring their swimming kit and a swimming cap. This is the pool requirements and they cannot swim without one.

Year 3 News
Fri 19 Jun 2026Year 3 have had a lovely week and have really enjoyed the afternoons. We are so proud of how they coped with their first sports day with us and the resilient attitudes we saw from them. They have worked hard to understand relationships between friends and what can be done to support these, through our PSHE topic. The children are also really coming along with their understanding of time. Our Asia unit in Geography is now being supported by our English unit, in which we are writing travel brochures. The children have become really excited about what they know and an opportunity to use it.

Year 6 News
Fri 19 Jun 2026What a busy week we have had! We have written some hilarious 1 star rating trip advisor reviews in English - who knew we could be so could at complaining!
We have completed our WW2 topic and begun learning about Scandinavia - ask your child if they can remember which three countries make up Scandinavia!
We have completed our learning in DAaRT and begun preparing our reports and graduation ceremony.
Not forgetting the fantastic Sports Day we had!! Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all of our adults who came to support us - we had a fab day!
Next week we are going on our River walk on Friday morning and a reminder for our Friesland students that their transition days are Wednesday and Thursday.

Year 5 News
Fri 19 Jun 2026Another lovely week in Year 5.
We had a fab sports day on Tuesday. It was great to see the children taking part and cheering their teams on. In topic this week, we focused on the dissolution of the monasteries, learning all about how Henry VIII moved away from the Catholic Church. We have finished writing out balanced arguments about the Loch Ness Monster and have performed a South African song with music and dance.

Year 4 News
Fri 19 Jun 2026This week, we have been learning about the counties in England and were amazed to find out there are 47! We have published our 'How to Train your Dragon text and will be moving onto studying King Arthur. This has been the focus for our reading also. Sports' Day was lots of fun- in the morning and afternoon- and we did really well being in a new location and with an additional event- the Tug of War. Well done to everyone 🙂

Year 5 News
Fri 12 Jun 2026This week has really had a World Cup feel to it. On Tuesday, we took part in a live Pobble lesson (a writing session) that was all about the World Cup. The children engaged really well and we have had some fantastic pieces of writing from it. Then, today, we went to see the Halle perform a range of songs all linked to the World Cup. It really has put us in the mood.

Year 6 News
Fri 12 Jun 2026This week has been very eventful! We have continued with lots of different genres of writing including f live World Cup Pobble lesson and a prequel to our class text 'The Silver Sword'. In Science, we learnt about the circulatory system and measured the effects of exercise on our heart rate.
We learnt about rationing in Topic and it was very interesting to hear how our diets today vary from those in WW2.
In DAaRT, we learnt about Knife Crime and how to communicate effectively.
Don't forget Sports Day next week - we look forward to seeing you all there.
