Fri 01 May 2026 Miss Hubert & Mrs Bishop

Another week has flown by in Year 5.

This week, we have started a new unit in English, looking at different Scottish myths and legends, getting inspiration for writing our own over the next few weeks. In maths, we have been looking at angles on a straight line and angles around a point. In history, we looked at different Scottish celebrations.

We hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend!

Please see the spelling list for next week below.

  • Year 4 Class News

Fri 01 May 2026 Mrs Marshall & Miss Stepheneson

This week Year 4 have had an amazing time on their residential, getting to experience climbing, archery and even raft building… even if they did get rather wet! Fortunately though, we were very grateful for the good weather! Back at school, we have been doing more work on our decimals, learning how to partition decimals flexibly and compare them. In English, we have now finished our drafting for our newspaper report on the Viking invasion at Lindisfarne and have started the editing process before publishing next week. In Topic, we looked at the artefacts found at Sutton Hoo and what we have learnt from them. In Computing, we have had our final lesson on animation and have been looking at making stop motion animations. We are really looking forward to our Perlethorpe Viking trip next week! Take care and have a good weekend, remember to keep practising your spellings, handwriting and times tables!

  • Class 3 Class News

Fri 01 May 2026 Mr Harding & Miss Brown

A stop start week this week with the power cut on Tuesday, however the children came back and produced their best independent writing of the year so wasn’t all bad. Their perseverance with handwriting in and out of school is really paying off. In maths children are getting to grips of reading scales and working out what the different jumps on measuring cylinders could be. Mr Spencer has commented on their progress in cricket on Thursday and their progression athletics on Monday is also evident. Same spellings as last week due to the Merit, power cut and bank holiday Monday taking away spelling lessons. Have a good long weekend everyone.
