Class News Year 6
Fri 11 Sep 2026Well done on your first full week in year 6!
This week we have completed our baseline assessments, which everyone put great effort into. We started our Electricity topic in Science and considered the ways electricity impacts our lives.
We have started our English lessons looking at comparing different myths.
Don't forget, swimming starts again on Monday. Children will swim every day again. Don't forget to bring your towel and undies!

Class News Year4
Fri 11 Sep 2026This week, Year 4 sat lots of assessments as part of our initial Test Week. Aside from these assessments, we started our first Maths unit on Place Value and have looked at representing and partitioning numbers to 1,000. In English, we had a grammar lesson on using 'was' and 'were' correctly and have started our new unit on writing a set of instructions. In the lesson, we looked the features of instructions and will start writing our own later on in the unit on how to make an Egyptian Inspired cartouche/plaque now that we have designed, made and decorated our own. In Topic, we looked at why the Ancient Egyptians chose to settle by the river Nile and how they had 3 seasons (flooding, harvest and growing). In Science we started our new unit in Animals Including Humans looking at the digestive system and the organs that make up it. Spellings (see below) go out on Friday to practise as well as a new handwriting practise sheet and times tables. Please bring handouts back to school by next Friday. Thank you, have a lovely weekend.

Class News Year 5
Fri 11 Sep 2026The children have worked so hard this week during their tests! We are really proud of the effort and focus that we have seen throughout both the tests and our first year 5 independent write. The children have also really enjoyed getting their teeth in to some of our new topics for this year. It is becoming clear that we have children who have a real love for learning about and understanding the world around them.

Class News Year 3
Fri 11 Sep 2026Another great week in year 3. Test week this week and the children have coped unbelievably well. There have been some fantastic test scores already and the resilience shown has be commendable. We have also completed our first independent write and all the children now have jobs in the class! Swimming next week each day, starting Monday and will continue for 2 weeks and real lessons start with our first maths, computing, reading, topic and science lessons. Have a great weekend!

Year 6 News
Fri 04 Sep 2026It is so nice to see you all back after a lovely, well-deserved summer break!
We have spent lots of time getting to know each other and learning the expectations and routines in our new classes.
We have learnt about Wisdom and having good morals and values this week in RE and have begun reading The Odyssey and learning about Greek Myths in preparation for English.
Next week we will have our first DaaRT lesson with our DaaRT officer.

Year 5 News
Fri 04 Sep 2026Year 5 have had a lovely first few days back and are really starting to settle in to their new year group. The children have spent time recapping the school rules and expectations as well as what their own rights are as children. We have enjoyed introducing the topics for this year to the children and even teaching our first RE unit!
Next week the children will begin their tests for the start of the year so please ensure a restful weekend so they can do their best.

Year 4 News
Fri 04 Sep 2026Year 4 have settled in so well to the start of our new year. This week we have designed and created Egyptian-inspired plaques linking to our History topic this half term. We made these out of salt-dough and carved Ancient Egyptian designs onto them. They are still drying out so we hope to paint them next week! We have also spent this week getting stuck into our RE unit on Spiritual expression and have looked at how music is used to express spirituality across different religions and how many religious songs derive from sacred texts. Children in Year 4 will be going home with their homework on Friday, they are expected to practise their spellings for their tests at the end of each week and will also need to hand in their times tables sheets and handwriting sheets every Friday. Their Topic homework is due by the end of the term, please see the table in their homework books for homework tasks to complete. Starbooks will start next week and children will need to have 3 times in the week and have this recorded in their partnership book for them to recieve their treat. Children can also practise on Times Tables Rockstars using their school login at home in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check in the Summer Term. Children in Year 4 will be swimming in October and because of this, we will not be doing PE until after our swimming block. Have a lovely weekend.

Year 3 News
Fri 04 Sep 2026The first week back (well three days) has gone really well for all children in year three. It has been fantastic to see the children working again and bringing their personalities to their new class. We have focused on ‘getting to know me’ activities for the last three days and covered a little bit of the R.E and Jigsaw lessons. The children have coped really well with a new environment and rules and we are all looking forward to the year ahead with this lovely bunch!
