Year 6 Class News
Fri 25 Sep 2026This week, Year 6 have continued to work hard in their swimming lessons each day. Next week is our last week of swimming though. In our foundational skills lessons, we have been recapping some of the different word classes (including nouns, pronouns and adjectives) and how to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. In Science, we learnt how to draw a circuit, using the correct scientific symbols and in DT, everyone designed their own Greek pottery, which will be made next week.

Year 5 Class News
Fri 25 Sep 2026This week year 5 have really got their teeth in to writing their travel guides. They have worked hard to use all of the grammatical features that they have been taught and are showing a fantastic level of focus. In maths, they have already put their skills to the test in the end of unit assessment for place value. Please continue to support your child in understanding the value of number. We are really looking forward to the children showing off their skills in the swimming pool next week!

No PE from next week onwards, due to swimming every day.

Year 4 Class News
Fri 25 Sep 2026This week in Year 4 we have completed our Instructions in English on how to make an Egyptian-inspired cartouche, we have some lovely examples! In Maths, we have been placing values on number lines to 10,000 and comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000 in our place value unit. In Science, we have looked at animal digestion and completed a stomach in the bag experiment to understand the process of digestion more clearly. In Topic, we looked at the hierarchy in ancient Egyptian times from Pharaohs and nobles and scribes to farmers and slaves. The spellings for next week are below. Enjoy your weekend.

Year 3 Class News
Fri 25 Sep 2026In year three this week we have been continuing swimming each day, this is the last week though, it was a great opportunity for the children to swim everyday for two weeks. In English was have been looking at how rainbow grammar works and using our knowledge of adjectives and adverbs to create expanded noun phrase sentences. We continued with place value in Maths with children really getting to grips with hundreds, tens and ones. We have closed gaps in maths and English around swimming gin the afternoon, new week will feel like a more normal week as we start computing, topic and science units.

Year 6 News
Fri 18 Sep 2026What a busy week we have had! We have had our first week back at swimming and the children have been amazing at getting back into the routine and have made fabulous progress already. This will continue into next week so don't forget your towel and pants!
We have started our Ancient Greek topic by learning about the geography of Greece and locating it on a map. In Science we have researched the inventions of Thomas Edison and their impact on our lives still today.
We have been working on foundational skills in English and Maths, focussing on Rainbow Grammar in our English sessions and place value and number sequences in Maths.

Year 5 News
Fri 18 Sep 2026This week has been another great week in year 5! The children have really enjoyed learning more about space and understanding the link between the rotation of the earth and day/night. They have also begun to make links between their geography topic of North America and their writing in English. We have particularly enjoyed seeing the children solidify and settle in to their new routines this week and hope this will continue further in the coming weeks. There has been some wonderful homework from both classes too- let's keep this up!

Year 4 News
Fri 18 Sep 2026This week, Year 4 have been learning how to use time conjunctions, imperative verbs, precise adjectives, adverbs and other key features used in instructions. In Maths, the children have been exploring numbers above 1,000, labelling number lines and partitioning numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones and partitioning numbers flexibly too. In Science, we did a cracker experiment to see how the enzymes in our saliva break down food and in Topic we have learnt about hieroglyphics and wrote our names using them on papyrus paper. In DT we were introduced to what a shaduf is and have labelled one in preparation for us designing and making our own later this term. The spellings for next week are below. Have a good weekend.

Class 3 News
Fri 18 Sep 2026Good start to the week with MERITs for Reuben and Evie and lots of house points given out for homework being completed. We have now started Maths and English units of work with children learning how to set work out and completing expanded noun phrases and place value. Swimming has been on all week except Wednesday which the children our loving. Spag and maths catch up sessions have been very successful with spellings and phonics starting next week! Swimming again next week everyone, have a great weekend.

Class News Year 6
Fri 11 Sep 2026Well done on your first full week in year 6!
This week we have completed our baseline assessments, which everyone put great effort into. We started our Electricity topic in Science and considered the ways electricity impacts our lives.
We have started our English lessons looking at comparing different myths.
Don't forget, swimming starts again on Monday. Children will swim every day again. Don't forget to bring your towel and undies!

Class News Year4
Fri 11 Sep 2026This week, Year 4 sat lots of assessments as part of our initial Test Week. Aside from these assessments, we started our first Maths unit on Place Value and have looked at representing and partitioning numbers to 1,000. In English, we had a grammar lesson on using 'was' and 'were' correctly and have started our new unit on writing a set of instructions. In the lesson, we looked the features of instructions and will start writing our own later on in the unit on how to make an Egyptian Inspired cartouche/plaque now that we have designed, made and decorated our own. In Topic, we looked at why the Ancient Egyptians chose to settle by the river Nile and how they had 3 seasons (flooding, harvest and growing). In Science we started our new unit in Animals Including Humans looking at the digestive system and the organs that make up it. Spellings (see below) go out on Friday to practise as well as a new handwriting practise sheet and times tables. Please bring handouts back to school by next Friday. Thank you, have a lovely weekend.
