What a way to finish the term! Yesterday, we had our Spring term Albany Adventure to the Think Tank museum in Birmingham.  The children had fun interacting with the exhibits and learning more about the world.  We were very proud of how our children behaved during the day, setting a great example to other schools.  In school this week, we created a rainforest poem, using different features of poetry.  For example, rhyming couplets, anaphora and epistrophe.  The finished pieces were fantastic! After Easter, we will be focusing on Scotland in Geography and materials and their properties in Science.  We hope you all have a lovely Easter!

It has been great to have all of the children back this week and to hear about all of the adventures from Hagg Farm. We enjoyed our trip to Think Tank, where we explored the different zones. One of our favourites was the area all about animals and fossils. We also enjoyed looking at the transport and machinery from the past.

    Have a great Easter

Year 3 have had a really exciting week this week! They have really enjoyed making their pizzas and exploring the way they can use the toppings to create different effects. The children have also worked hard to come to a deeper understanding of fractions and hoe they might be useful in everyday life. This week has also ended with some amazing descriptions of Boudicca- Queen of the Iceni tribe! See what your child can tell you about who she was...

This week, we have been working on using expanded noun phrases, adverbials and speech for our Mayan narrative inspired by The Chocolate Tree story. In Maths, we have finished our unit on fractions and have been looking at recognising tenths and hundredths and tenths as decimals. We have been doing lots of RE this week too, looking at the Easter Story, focusing on the key events such as The Last Supper, Maundy Thursday, Judas’ betrayal and have looked into different crosses and the symbolism they have for Christians. In Spanish, we have looked at how adjectives (colours) change depending on the gender of the noun. We are really looking forward to next week and our Albany Adventure on Thursday! Remember to keep practising your spellings and in your handwriting and times table homework which is due in every Friday – next week please bring in for Thursday due to our INSET day.

It has been very quiet in Upper School this week with half of Year 6 at Hagg Farm.  In Year 5, we have focused on RE this and the importance of Easter to Christians.  In Geography, we learnt about deforestation and how it is impacting the world.  In Art, created our batiks, using wax and ink.  Next week, we have our whole school trip to Birmingham Think Tank which will also be the last day of term.

Please see the spellings for next week.

  • Year 6 News

    Fri 20 Mar 2026

The Year 6 children at Hagg Farm have had a fantastic week, taking part in a range of activities including abseiling and rock hopping. We can't wait to hear about their adventures when they return to school next week.

In school, we completed our Easter RE unit of work and had some brilliant discussions about whether Jesus is the Messiah, using bible stories to help us reach our conclusions. We then thought about what a modern day messenger would say or do. I was really impressed with the morals shown in everyone's responses. We have also been learning about the Titanic in some of our Reading and Maths lessons. We worked in groups to try and decide who was to blame for the Titanic sinking and justified our opinions.

Next week, we have the Albany Adventure to look forward to in the final week of the term.

    Enjoy the weekend,

    Miss Ottowell

This week we have practiced our dancing in PE where we began putting together a routine, we are excellent!

We had an afternoon working hard on our DT project - moving vehicles - creating the base for the vehicle cutting wood and joining the pieces to create a sturdy structure.

On Thursday we had an exciting science day where we moved around school in our houses learning about female computer scientists, creating boats testing hankies (and learning about snot!) and creating poster entries for the competition. We had an amazing time!

In English we have published our balanced arguments on whether or not the work of Alan Turing should have remained a secret or we should have used it to end World War 2 immediately.

The Countdown to Hagg Farm is on! We leave first thing Monday morning so for those of you attending, get packing! Children going on the trip must bring a packed lunch on Monday.

    Have a good weekend

We have had test week in school this week and all the children tried really hard.  Yesterday, we had Science day with the theme 'Curiosity'.  Every child in school took part in four different activities.  In Year 5, we looked at what makes boats float and they had to try and make the best float.  In Year 6, they researched famous female scientists, celebrating their achievements.  In Year 4, they investigated what makes the best hankie and in Year 3 they discussed what they thought was going to happen in the future.  It was so lovely to see all the children working together as a team and enjoy the day.

Because  we have had test week, the spellings will carry over to next week and will be tested next Friday.  Have a lovely weekend.
