Year 5 News
Fri 24 Mar 2023It has been a quite week in upper school with half of Year 6 away at Hagg Farm. It was a lovely start to the week with our special Mother's Day breakfast. It was fab to see so many mums and other family members in school. In class, we have been busy working on our diary entries about the whole school trip to Twycross Zoo and exploring line graphs in maths. We are coming to the end of our unit on life cycles in science and rainforests. Today, we have been learning about the people of the Amazon, looking at how their lives compare to ours.

Year 4 News
Fri 24 Mar 2023While Mrs Marshall has been enjoying herself at Hagg Farm this week, Miss Weatherall has been teaching in year 4. We have had a wonderful week and the Year 4s have been fantastic, very well behaved and hard working. We have been planning and beginning to write our very own folktale, which we have based on our Mayan Folktale 'The Chocolate Tree'. The ideas and vocabulary the year 4s have come up with is fantastic. I cannot wait to read the finished folktales. We have also been completing our beautiful Mayan masks in our art lessons. They are all looking superb.

Mon 20 Mar 2023We have had a busy week with test week and the children have all worked really hard. On Wednesday we had a great day at the Zoo and saw lots of animals (including many rainforest animals) that we have never seen before. On Friday afternoon, we also had our parent workshop and have made some wonderful videos about deforestation in tropical rainforests, explaining why it is happening and the effects of it. Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend.

Year 6 News
Fri 17 Mar 2023Y6 children and staff really enjoyed the trip to Twycross Zoo. It was amazing to get so close to the animals. The monkeys were so funny - playing and showing off and one even stuck its tongue out at us! I think one of our new favourite animals is the pygmy marmoset!
During the rest of the week, we have been completing our assessments. Everyone has worked really hard and we can see that all of our revision is paying off. Well done everyone.
Enjoy Hagg Farm next week. We can't wait to hear all about your adventures. For those who are staying in school, we will be working on a Titanic themed project.

Year 4 News
Fri 17 Mar 2023The children have worked hard this week on their assessments for Maths, Reading, Spelling and Grammar and scores will be ready to share at parents evening. Our visit to Twycross made all the hard work worth it though - the Snow Leopard was certainly pleased to see us, bounding down through its enclosure and jumping up at the glass, seemingly licking one of the children! The giraffes also were a firm favourite.
Next week Miss Weatherall will be teaching in 4M as Mrs Marshall joins the Year 6s at Hagg Farm.

Year 3 News
Fri 10 Mar 2023Year 3 have had a busy week doing lots of zoo related activities and learning more about how fair it is for workers in the production of chocolate. We have also been investigating the relationship between different forms of chocolate and how it looks like different stages of the rock cycle. We are really looking forward to our trip next week. Year 5 News
Fri 10 Mar 2023What a fantastic week we have had getting ready for our great Albany Adventure to Twycross Zoo! On Tuesday, news broke that a Bengal tiger had escaped from the zoo and made its way in to the school building! We have been writing newspaper articles in English to report the events. In maths, we have been designing our own zoos, using our work on area to create different animal enclosures. Next week, head over to our class pages to look at our finished work. We had to stick to a budget, calculating how much it would cost to house different animals and what it would cost to feed them every week. The week came to an end with everyone dressing up as either a zoo animal or their favourite animal. Check out the group shot.
