Year 4 Latest News
Fri 25 Feb 2022This week, in Year 4, we started our new topic of the Ancient Mayans. We have started to look at what life was like for them and researched all about Mayan masks. We also started a new topic in Science - Animals and their habitats. We have some exciting things to learn about this term. It was really exciting on Thursday when firefighters came into school. We got to learn about their job and see what they do when they are in their fire engine.

Year 3 Latest News
Fri 11 Feb 2022Year 3 have been writing non chronological reports this week on what life was like in Bronze Age Britain. They have been looking at charts and tables in Maths. Their RE unit on prayer has been really though provoking and they have asked lots of questions. Have a happy and safe half term.

Year 4 Latest News
Fri 11 Feb 2022This week, Year 4 experienced a Mountain Worksop Day, where they took part in a team building challenge and some children became mountaineers. We learned lots more information about Mount Everest and designed our own creature that could be discovered on undiscovered slopes.
We also had a great time in our Drumba session. Certainly a lively half hour.

Fri 04 Feb 2022This week, we have continued our work on fractions, finding common denominators to order and compare fractions and complete calculations. In English, we looked at the features of autobiographies before writing our own. We have finally started sewing our Norman purses. They look great and we can't wait to see the finished purses!

Year 3 Latest News
Fri 04 Feb 2022Year 3 had a wonderful trip out this week to Creswell Crags. The learnt about the Stone Age and how different people ate and hunted. They built shelters, threw spears, went into a cave with helmets and torches and also built skeletons of stone age animals. It was a brilliant day and everyone was so well behaved. I was really proud of them all.

Year 4 Latest News
Thu 03 Feb 2022It's been great to have most of the children back in Year 4 this week. In English, we've been writing a newspaper report on Nigel Vardy and the events that took place on Mount McKinley. We've also been learning about Earthquakes and looking at the aftermath of these. It's been lovely to see some of the amazing homework that has been bought in, especially the towering mountains that are on display. We're looking forward to learning more about mountains next week with our Mountain Day.

Year 6 Latest News
Fri 28 Jan 2022It has been a quiet week in Year 6 with so many children off. It has been so lovely to have some children feeling better and coming back to school. In English this week, we have started looking at the narrative poem The Highwayman. Is a fantastic poem and we get so much out of it. We have finished our unit on fractions in maths and will be starting geometry next week. In topic, we have continued learning about WW2 and who the leaders were.

Year 5 Latest News
Fri 28 Jan 2022This week, we have started a new topic in Maths - fractions. So far, we have found equivalent fractions and we have converted mixed number and improper fractions. In English, we have written informal letters from the point of view of Robin Hood, who had been captured and was writing to Maid Marian. Mrs Cave was particularly impressed with her English group. In Science, we found out how seeds are dispersed and we made or own versions of the sycamore 'helicopters.'

Year 3 Latest News
Fri 28 Jan 2022Year 3 have really enjoyed investigating different rocks this week in science. They have been testing how hard the rocks are and how permeable they are. They have also been performing and investigating the structure of Winter poetry. Next week they will write their own poems. In Maths we are adding and subtracting money. We are all looking forward to out trip next week to Creswell Crags.

Year 4 Latest News
Thu 27 Jan 2022This week we have been slowly returning to some degree of normal and it has been fantastic to see returning faces but we are missing those that are not here. Get well soon if you are off.
We have been continuing to study mountains and have considered whether mountains are places tourists would like to visit and why. In English we have been continuing to learn about newspapers and next week plan to write a newspaper report about Nigel Vardy (the mountaineer who visited our school) and the incident in 1999 on Mount McKinley. In Science, we set up an experiment about evaporation and found that water evaporated when in a warmer atmosphere.
