This week in Year 4 we have completed out diaries in our English sessions and have looked at how we use determiners. We had our independent write this week too with a focus on The Lion King and have been focusing on using and punctuating speech correctly. We also learnt a lot about Nelson Mandela in our reading sessions and have learnt about why he was arrested and what he stood up for. As part of our multiplication and division unit within maths, we have been looking at multiples, writing division and multiplication facts for the 3, 6 and 9 times table and have explored the connections between them. Continuing on our unit on teeth and digestion, this week we have looked at the different types of teeth and the different functions they have. In art, we have explored movement with figures and have done this through observing African dancers, using lines to show movement. On Thursday we tried our hands at karate and had a great session practising balance and control of our bodies.

What a busy week, we have been working hard in English, working on pulling all our ideas together for our travel diary around South America. We also wrote an independent write about some little mythical creatures travelling across a pond in a boot. In Maths we have been working hard with adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers. We also had Karate day this week which the children threw themselves into and gave it all a go. In Topic, we found countries on a map within continents, in Science, we learnt about how volcanos are formed. Next week is test week, so there will be no spellings and we ask to practice 100 words. We hope you have a lovely weekend.

We have resumed with our Spanish lessons for this term and are learning and developing our skills in Dodgeball as part of PE.

Yesterday, Albany Junior Boys football team played Roundhill Primary School. Unfortunately, we played a fantastic team and the end result was not what we had hoped for. All of the children that played gave everything they had and they never once gave in or let their heads drop. They played with a fantastic attitude and they always had smiles on their faces. Next week, we host Trowell C of E Primary School in our second league game.
