Year 6 News
Fri 07 Jun 2024This week, year 6 have been working really hard on completing their alternative ending on the Story of Snow White. A twisted tale on how the Queen became evil. We have also continued our Scandinavia topic, learning about its location and various weather systems. This week, year 6 have started their preparations for their leavers productions and auditions will be taking place today! The children are very excited. A letter containing all the relevant information will follow next week. We are super proud of the children for their continued efforts in what is an extremely buy period at school!

Year 5 News
Fri 07 Jun 2024It was so lovely to see all the children on Monday. It is hard to believe we are now in the last term of Year 5. This week, we started our new history topic on the Tudors and learnt about the Battle of Bosworth. A letter was sent home earlier in the week for our trip to Haddon Hall. Please return the permission slip and contribution ASAP before June 14th. In English, we have been looking at myths and are starting to plan our own ones.
Below are the spellings for next week which will be tested next Friday.

Year 4 News
Fri 07 Jun 2024Year 4 have had a great first week to their final half-term. We have started our new topics for Science and Topic lessons and are now learning about sound and the British Isles. On Wednesday, we had a fantastic time fencing for the first time, we learnt lots of moves and fencing terminology and had duels against our peers! In Maths, we are continuing with decimals, looking at tenths and hundredths and have been ordering and comparing them. In English, we are now doing another newspaper report unit, reporting on Beowulf's attack. In Reading lessons, we have started reading King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and we have made our torches in DT using our knowledge and understanding of electrical circuits and components from our previous Science topic on electricity.
Next week, we will start our new units in PE and DT and visit the library on Thursday afternoon. Please make sure your child has their library card ready for next week. Library membership leaflets will go home to children who do not have one.

Year 3 News
Fri 07 Jun 2024Don’t know quite how the first week has gone by so fast. The children have settled back in really well into the final term of Year 3. This week the highlight was going to the library, where children were read to and had a little quiz, some children will have come home with library card applications. In PE, we have done dodgeball and Athletics preparing us for sports day. In Maths, we have finished time and now started our topic on shapes. In English, the children finished their biography on Michael Faraday and they looked amazing, we have now started learning about Charlie and the Chocolate factory. In Topic, we have started to learn about Fairtrade and keep an eye out in the supermarkets for the logo. We hope you have a lovely weekend, here are next weeks spellings which will also be on edshed.

Year 4 News
Thu 23 May 2024Happy holidays- this half term has whizzed by. This week we have completed our Viking narrative, learning how the Anglo Saxon and Viking era came to an end and have been a little more of the Anglo Saxon saga Beowulf. Additionally, many children have for the last few weeks been rehearsing for the music and ballet concert. This week they were amazing in their performance to the parents and to the school. A huge well done 🙂

Year 5 News
Thu 23 May 2024Where has the week gone! This week, we have focused on our RE unit for the term, looking at different religions and their beliefs. We have also been working on our DT unit, experimenting with different CAM mechanisms to make a moving toy. In English, we have continued looking at the Shakespeare play, Macbeth, writing a newspaper report about King Duncan's murder. In maths, we have been learning about position and direction, focusing on coordinates and translating shapes which has been a little tricky for some.
After half term, we will be learning about the Tudors in history and will be having a visit to Haddon Hall. The letter will come out when we are back. We hope you all have a lovely half term break.

Year 6 News
Thu 23 May 2024It's here! Half Term! We cannot tell you how happy the children are to get to this point in the year. They are all ready for a well-deserved break after all of their exams. This week, we have finished off our latest RE unit of work, exploring religions within our community. We have also taken the children out for a couple of games of rounders. 6O have definitely got the better of 6T! We hope the children have a lovely half term and we also hope they rest up! Just a reminder that our P.E days after half term are Monday and Tuesday (A text has already been sent to confirm this)

Year 3 News
Thu 23 May 2024Well done to all the Year 3’s who took part in the music performance, you were all fabulous and made me very proud. How is it that another half term has flown by. This week in English, we have written our plans and some sentences about Michael Faraday to go towards writing our biography after half term. In Maths, we have still been focussing on time and looking at minutes and seconds and how we can use that to find duration and start and end times. In RE, we have been looking at what makes worship buildings sacred to certain people. In Topic, we looked at physical and human features of India. In PE, we had a big rounders match where the children could show off their skills they have learnt this half term. We are really looking forward to the final half term of Year 3 as it is so jam-packed full of exciting opportunities. We hope you take lots of rest. Here are the spellings for the week we return.

Year 6 News
Fri 17 May 2024Well! What a week! I think we can safely say that the year 6s are glad it is over. We cannot express how proud we are of them. They gave it their absolute everything during the whole of SATS week and they applied themselves in the most pressurised situation. The only change has been today, where we have started our DA&RT program but we decided to give them a treat afternoon where we sat and watched a film. We hope they have a lovely weekend and get a well deserved rest from being at school!

Year 5 News
Fri 17 May 2024It has been a different week this week. Due to Year 6 SATS, we spent some time in the hall working on a project all about Scotland. The children have written some fantastic travel brochures, filled with information about different Scottish landmarks, traditions, celebrations, foods and so much more.
Because we have not had the usual routine, the spellings and times tables will be carried over to next week.
