Year 3 News
Fri 24 Jan 2025This week, year 3 have a great week starting their new English unit- a set of instructions to help us make our Roman Shields (A huge thankyou goes out to those who have sent cardboard in!) We have also enjoyed continuing with our Spanish work and in PE, we have been learning more about the invasion games of Tag Rugby and Netball! The children need a well-deserved rest over the weekend.

Year 6 News
Fri 24 Jan 2025This week, Year 6 have started a new English unit on biographies. We will be writing one about Anne Frank so we carried out research about her life and found out lots of interesting facts. The children are really enjoying learning about her and the struggles she faced.
Linked to our WW2 topic, some of the children have been finding out about relatives who fought in the war. It has been brilliant to see pictures, medals and even books that have been published.
In Maths, we have continued our work on ratio. We can use the ratio symbols to compare different amounts and we can use a ratio to work out a total amount or how much each group would get.
Next week, we have our Science parent workshop. It would be lovely to see you.

Year 4 News
Fri 24 Jan 2025This week, the children have been improving in their skills and confidence at swimming. In Science, we have been learning about evaporation and condensation and have discussed how this links to the water cycle. The climate of mountains have been the focus in topic and we know that it gets colder the higher up the mountain you go and that the vegetation differs. Spellings have been given out. Have a great weekend- remember swimming kits on Monday.

Year 5 News
Fri 24 Jan 2025Another busy week in Year 5. In English, we finished writing up our persuasive letters which were fantastic. The children used the work we did during the debate to write a formal letter to The Witan. In maths, we have moved on to fractions and have been multiplying an integer by a fraction and mixed numbers, moving on to finding fractions of amounts. Once again, it highlights just how important times table facts are. Today, we have welcomed The GREAT project again, looking at healthy and happy relationships between friends and family. In DT, we continued our sewing and learnt how to do cross stitch. It is all very fiddly!
If you have not yet returned the Norman letter and money, please do so soon otherwise we will be forced to cancel the workshop.

Year 6 News
Fri 17 Jan 2025In Maths this week, we have been learning about imperial and metric units of measurement. We have found out how they link to every day life and we have been converting between different units. We are now moving on to ratio.
We have written our persuasive speeches, using all of the techniques we have learnt about and everyone has focused on the positives in order to make signing up to army sound like a fantastic opportunity. The children can be very persuasive!
In Science, we explored the different groups that animals belong to (such as reptiles, arachnids, mammals and molluscs) and the characteristics that they must have. We also thought about the reasons why a spider isn't an insect.

Year 5 News
Fri 17 Jan 2025This week, we had a very exciting debate in English linked to our Norman unit. The children were presenting their views on who should be crowned king when King Edward died. All the children worked really hard and presented some well thought out ideas supported with evidence. In maths, we moved onto division and have been using our skills to solve word problems. Today, we have begun a new project in school. This term, we are taking part in the GREAT project. Today, we focused on relationships, exploring many different types of relationships and how they can be happy or sad.

Fri 17 Jan 2025This week has been another busy week back. We have started a new English unit about a mountaineer and will be writing a newspaper article about his adventures. Maths continues to be based on Times Tables so keep practicing on Times Table Rockstars. We have located mountains and in Science have been learning about states of matter. Remember swimming kits on Monday 🙂

Year 3 News
Fri 17 Jan 2025This week year three have written up their stories. They have done a fantastic job and the children are super proud of what they have done. We have continued with multiplication in maths and even though the concepts are tricky, the children are showing lots of resilience. We have finished the week off with netball and the children are ready for a well-deserved rest!

Fri 10 Jan 2025This week, we have had a very busy first week back after Christmas. In English, we have started writing the drafts of our narrative story and in math, we have continued with our multiplication and division unit. The children have settled back in to their classroom routine really well! The highlight of our week on the other hand has to be our assembly on Tuesday, where an outside provider came in and demonstrated the use of many different rock band instruments! It was loud, chaotic and extremely fun. We hope the children have a lovely weekend. Stay safe. Please be reminded that our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays.

Year 4 News
Fri 10 Jan 2025Happy New Year. It has been a busy week back. The children were fantastic in remembering swimming kits on Monday and enjoyed their session- some overcoming their worries which was great to see. We have started our Mountains topic in Humanities and States of Matter is our new focus in Science. Homework sheets have been given out and spellings will be usually given out on a Friday too.
