Finally! We are there! The holidays have arrived and I don’t think the children could be more ready for a break. We’ve had an amazing first term with year three. This week we have explored Christmas through our RE sessions and we have been to the church to perform our Christmas performance. The children did an amazing job and they sang absolutely beautifully! We hope the children all have a fantastic , well- deserved Christmas break.

    Merry Christmas Everyone,

Year 5 all did themselves proud at the church with some fantastic singing, it was lovely to see so many parents too. We have had a fantastic week finishing off our Indus Valley jewellery and even had a full hour of nerf wars on Monday. We finished our fractions unit with some great end of unit test scores and move on to multiplication and division. We managed to finish our instructions on how to steal Christmas and our topic was completing our R.E unit.

Next term we will be studying the Normans in History and in Science we move onto Life Cycles unit. In P.E we are back to two lessons a week learning Netball and Tag Rugby.

Have a lovely Christmas and new year and I loo forward to seeing you all in 2025.

This week in Year 4, we have finished writing a short narrative based upon Jack and the Beanstalk after our pantomime trip last week. We have had lots of RE lessons this week looking at the Christmas story, Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and why they had to leave after the birth of baby Jesus.  For our Independent Write, we wrote diary entries from the perspective of Santa and have focused on using the present perfect tense. On Thursday, we performed our Christmas concert at St Helen's church which was lovely to watch and we finished the week that afternoon with our Christmas party and Christmas quizzes. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe holidays and look forward to seeing you back in the New Year.

We have reached the end of the first term and nearly the end of 2024!

In Science, we explored refraction by putting items into a glass of water, which made it look like they were broken. We completed our RE unit, thinking about Christmas traditions and what matters to us. Our Dolls' houses are now finished and they look brilliant. The attention to detail is fantastic - we have rugs, lamps and other decorations.

To end the week, we enjoyed a morning of music, dancing, games and other festive activities followed by our excellent Christmas performance at St Helen's Church. Well done.

Merry Christmas everyone. See you in 2025!

We have had another busy week and we have continued to enjoy our advent treats.

On Tuesday, we really enjoyed our trip to the Pantomime, to see Jack and the beanstalk and we loved joining in with the boos, cheers and singing.

In English, we have written our explanation texts and we also had our parent workshop, where we focused on non-finite clauses.

We have lots to look forward to next week before we break up for Christmas.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The Jack and the beanstalk pantomime on Tuesday was a great success, year 5 were on their best behaviour and loved it.

We have been writing instructions on how to catch Santa Clause in English using our bossy, imperative verbs and soldiering on with adding and subtracting fractions with a different denominator in Maths. In Science we investigated levers, pulleys and gears creating our own lever and measuring where the pivot needs to be to balance with different weights. We started our R.E topic looking at the Christmas story and created our own modern version through drama. Our final dance routine was filmed in P.E and we excelled in making our Climate Change speeches our Go Zero lesson.
