It's been a busy first week back. Our new Humanities (History topic) is the Ancient Mayans and we have already found out lots about this civilisation. We will be making Mayan masks in the coming weeks. Science is focussed on Living Things and their Habitats. We are really trying hard to learn our times tables off  by heart and ensure our handwriting in neat, legible and consistent. Homework now includes handwriting and times tables as well as spellings and Reading for Starbucks.

Year 3 have had a great first week back! They have worked hard to continue their understanding of length and perimeter in Maths and writing instructions in English. They have really enjoyed starting to think about nutrition in science and have all got a good understanding of what a balanced diet looks like. The children are really excited to be continuing to learn about the Romans in our deeper topic of Roman Britain in history.

Fri 13 Feb 2026 Miss Ottowell & Miss Carmichael

We have had a busy last week of half term - where has the time gone?

We completed and published our biography of Anne Frank, the work the children produced was fantastic! We have begun our research into Alan Turing and the Engima code in preparation for writing a balanced argument after the break.

In Maths, we have been learning about algebra, creating formula and equations and applying this to reasoning and problem solving.

We had a busy day on Tuesday for Internet Safety Day where we learnt about AI and how to stay safe and wary of the digital world around us. Feel free to re watch the BBC live lesson online!

Our afternoons have been filled with RE where we have been learning about Judaism, the religious celebrations and how Jewish people were discriminated against during WW2.

Children will be bringing home their Sats revision guides this evening. Please support your child with their learning at home using these resources and make sure that no books are written in. Let us know if you require any paper and pencils for working from home. These should be a great help in the run up to Sats.

Have a great half term break and stay safe!

    Miss Carmichael & Miss Ottowell.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came in for our RE workshop.  It was so lovely to have so many of you attend.  This week, we have focused on RE and what it means to be a Christian.  On Thursday, we had a special visitor from Capital One who is a risk analyst and spoke to the children about how they use maths in the real world.  Following a whole school assembly, Year 5 worked with Andrei to explore how different professions use maths in the workplace and for their hobbies.

Great week of finishing this week. The Roman shields were the highlight of the week in Design Technology and the children completed some fabulous designs and were really proud of their final product. This week in Religious Education we learnt about pray in different religions with some fascinating conversations, this was commented on during the in the parents workshop too. We continued to look at different units of measure in Maths and learnt all about imperative verbs in English to support writing our instructions. Have an amazing half term and I’ll see you all raring to go in a week time.

Rain, rain, rain. Hopefully better weather next week so we can be outside for breaks and P.E. Year three have finished their own narratives this week based on the structure of our class novel The Black Rock. We have moved on the measuring and perimeter in maths, so the children were getting to grips with using a ruler and the difference between mm, cm and m. Tag rugby and netball continued however netball was inside but still very fun and competitive. We have researched the scientist Michael Faraday, the man who discovered electromagnetism in our science lessons and started to complete our Roman shields.
