Fri 12 Sep 2025 Miss Hubert & Mrs Douifi

It has been test week in school this week so the children have been busy completing English and maths assessments.  Next week we will be on our usual morning timetable with English and maths every morning.  Every Friday, the children should come home with their spelling book which has the spellings they will be learning the following week and then tested on Friday morning.  If they do not bring their book home, we will always post a picture of their spellings on the class news.  Please encourage your child to learn their spellings, times tables and read three times at home.

In science, we have been learning about the shape of the Earth, the sun and the moon and why we have night and day.  In topic, we looked at the different continents and the countries that make up North America.

Great week again in year 3. It was test week this week so the children were beavering away each morning with their maths, SPAG and reading papers. Highlight of the week was in science, with our rock walk. Children have been geologists and have been discovering the names of different rocks and identifying them. We had our first Spanish lesson, which is taught by Senora Cress. The children loved learning another language and were fully engaged in it. P.E was Cosmic Yoga this week due to the weather and we continue to explore the Stone Age, learning about timelines and what humans were doing from the beginning of our time. P.E kits on Thursday and Friday next week please, have a great weekend.

It has been great to welcome everyone back into their new Year 6 classes this week. What a brilliant start to the year! We have been really impressed with how well everyone has settled in. We have created our class charter and in RE, we have been thinking about wisdom and what the 10 commandments might look like in today's modern world. We have also become familiar with a Greek myth called Theseus and the Minotaur, which will feature in our writing next week.

    Have a great weekend.

It has been so lovely to welcome the children back after the summer holidays.  Everyone has had a fantastic start in Year 5, settling in to the new school year and listening really well in lessons.  Our PE lessons this term will be on a Monday and Friday afternoon.  In geography, we are learning about America and in science, we are learning about Earth and Space.

  • Year 4

Fri 05 Sep 2025 Mrs Marshall & Miss Stepheneson

Year 4 have had a great first week of the academic year. We have done an entire unit on Music and spirituality as part of our RE topic this half term. We have looked at and compared songs in different religions and have considered why religious texts are used as a basis for songs. We have also had lessons throughout the week on our British Values and protected characteristics. As part of our new Topic on the Ancient Egyptians, we have also designed, made and painted our very own Egyptian Salt-dough plaques and have mummified a tomato as part of an experiment into the mummification process. Our PE days from next week until the end of the term will be on Monday and Thursday so please come dressed in PE kit on these days (Monday will be indoor PE and Thursday will be outdoor PE). Starbooks will start from next week and all the children have taken out a book from the library so please read at home a minimum of 3 times before next Friday. Have a restful weekend ahead of next week.

First class news of the year!! Year 3 has started with a bang, with all children (and adults) getting used to being back at school and getting used to their new teachers and class mates. It has been a great week, we have mostly be completing R.E lessons and exploring the different subjects we do and getting all the new books ready with knowledge organisers and front covers on. We have looked at the school and class rules and their new playgroup and the expectations around playtimes. P.E has started and will be on Thursdays and Fridays so children need to come wearing their kit on these days. We are really looking forward to the year with a fantastic bunch of children who all seem engaged and eager to learn.

Fri 18 Jul 2025 Miss Ottowell

On Tuesday, Year 6 enjoyed their end of year treat - a morning of laser tag and zorbing. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved and having fun. I think people spent most of the time on the floor in their zorb, rolling around!

On Thursday, the DAaRT graduation went really well. Our DAaRT officer and Year 5 enjoyed the sketches and information that was shared. The children really have worked hard on all aspects of the programme.

Well, there's only 1 more week to go with lots of fun things planned. Have a lovely weekend.

Last Class News for this year! This week has been slightly different, we have been completing quizzes in the afternoon to see what knowledge has been retained throughout year 3, 4 and 5. We have continued with our art portraits focusing on the Loomis method for drawing faces from a different angle and in history we finished our Tudors unit by looking at the Spanish Armada. We had our trip to the library on Thursday, it was great to see children getting enthusiastic about books and on Monday we were lucky enough to have Miss Weatherall in class to teach us different First Aid techniques. Reports will be out on Monday and next week we have lots to look forward to as we have our Albany Adventure on Tuesday and Inflatable day on Wednesday. Have a lovely weekend everyone

  • Year 4 News

Fri 18 Jul 2025 Mrs Marshall & Miss Stepheneson

This week, Year 4 have been learning all about Hinduism as part of our RE lessons for our current unit. They have learnt what Hinduism is, their main beliefs, Gods and Goddesses and have looked at what worship is like at home and in a Mandir. We have also enjoyed our quiz week afternoons, which has put their knowledge to the test, covering everything they have been taught this year. There may be one week left of school now, but it will be a very educational and exciting one with a Culture Day on Thursday, our Albany Adventure to Yorkshire Wildlife park on Tuesday and Inflatables on Wednesday! On Wednesday, we will also get an ice cream as Year 4’s plant stall generated the most profit at the Summer market and on our very last day, we also have a non-uniform day, another treat for our winning stall. Have a great weekend everyone!
