    Fri 03 Mar 2023 Miss S Ottowell

To celebrate world book day, Y6 wrote their own zoo-themed stories, based on the short story of 'Hullabaloo at the zoo.' We thought about what the zoo animals might get up to once the zoo is closed. There were so many brilliant ideas such as Hawaiian themed parties and playing sports. This week, we had our first basketball lesson with Mr Riley, where we focused on dribbling, passing and using the space effectively. In Humanities, we discussed the pros and cons of evacuation during World War 2 and we thought about how life would have changed for evacuees. Every child has been given a set of revision books, to use at home in preparation for SATs and it has been great to see that they are already being used. Keep up the great work!

We are really looking forward to our trip to the Holocaust Centre next week too.

    Fri 24 Feb 2023

It has been lovely to see all of the children back in school this week. In English, we have been discovering how Alan Turing and his team cracked the enigma machine, resulting in messages being decoded. We held a debate, sharing our thoughts on whether it was the correct decision to allow attacks to happen, knowing that they were aware of what was happening. We will be writing our balanced arguments next week.

    Mon 06 Feb 2023

In Year 4, we have written our newspapers about Nigel Vardy's misadventure on Mount McKinley and have researched Edmund Hillary in order to write a biography of his like. We have been continuing to study the water cycle and now understand why the sea does not disappear due to evaporation.

Please remember that we will be at Clip and Climb on 9th Feb from 12.15. We will be back by the end of the school day. Children need a packed lunch (unless ordered from the kitchen), PE kit with trainers and lots of determination and resilience 🙂

    Mon 30 Jan 2023

This week we have kept work linked to the mountain topic as we have written newspaper articles based on Spy Fox preventing a terrible catastrophe from tasking place high up in the mountains as Dr Yeti or Dr Claws planned to destroy the world as we know it! We have also discovered the effects of tourism on mountain areas. In Science and PE, we have investigated the Water Cycle creating our own mini water cycles and dances showing the process of evaporation.

    Fri 20 Jan 2023

This week began with a very special visitor in school- Nigel Vardy. He is a mountaineer who lost his fingers, toes and nose to frost bite but this doesn't stop him climbing, kyacking and doing the things he loves. A great example of resilience. We have also had a volcanic eruption with bicarbonate and vinegar and have investigated the viscosity of liquids.
