Year 4 News
Fri 09 May 2025This week in English, we have continued to try to persuade the Viking King to stay in Scandinavia and not invade Northumberland. We have had to use the features of persuasive writing- rhetorical questions, flattery, exaggeration whilst also considering the features of a letter. Additionally, we have learned about Sutton Hoo and what was left in the burial site for an Anglo-Saxon King.
VE Day was fun- we learned lots! Part of what we learned was how important the Spitfire was in winning WW2. This linked back to our Local History Day from last term when we found out Rolls Royce and the engines they created for many aeroplanes used in battles.
Remember, swimming is on Monday, PE is on Tuesday and next week, we go to Perlethorpe on Thursday. A busy week!
Please read at home, learn times tables and practice spellings (below). Topic homework also came home a couple of weeks ago.

Fri 02 May 2025This week has flown by in Year 5! In English, we have continued looking at the book 'The Snow Leopard' and have been writing our own poems based on a particular event within the story. In maths, we have been using protractors to measure and draw angles. This is always a really tricky topic but everyone worked hard and was able to measure angles with increased accuracy. During Science, we conducted an experiment to see which materials were soluble. We made some very disgusting looking mixtures!
Next week, we will be visiting the library on Thursday 8th May. If you have a library card at home, please remember to bring it. We also have our parent workshop 11-12 to celebrate VE day.
