Year 3 News
Fri 10 Jan 2025This week, we have had a very busy first week back after Christmas. In English, we have started writing the drafts of our narrative story and in math, we have continued with our multiplication and division unit. The children have settled back in to their classroom routine really well! The highlight of our week on the other hand has to be our assembly on Tuesday, where an outside provider came in and demonstrated the use of many different rock band instruments! It was loud, chaotic and extremely fun. We hope the children have a lovely weekend. Stay safe. Please be reminded that our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays.

Year 5 News
Fri 10 Jan 2025We have had a fab start to the new term. On Tuesday, we had an amazing assembly from Rocksteady Music School. All the children learnt about the different instruments in a rock band and got to sing, dance and rock out to the different songs. It even ended with three members of staff forming their own rock band, performing 'We Will Rock You' to the school.
In class, we have started our new unit in history, learning about the Normans and why the Battle of Hastings was so important. In English, we are using our knowledge of the Battle and the events that led up to it to have a debate about who we would have chosen to be king. In maths, we have been learning how to do long multiplication. Although some have found it difficult, they have shown great resilience and starting to get the hang of it.
To support our Norman unit, we will be having a workshop in school. Please see the letter that was sent home on Tuesday and return to school ASAP. Without your support, the event will have to be cancelled.
The spellings for next week are attached below.

Year 6 News
Fri 10 Jan 2025It has been great to see everyone back in school after the Christmas break, settling back into routines and new topics. We also had an amazing assembly from Rock Steady on Tuesday.
Our new topic is World War 2 and this week, we explored the reasons why the war began. In our English work, we have been using persuasive phrases and techniques in order to persuade young men to sign up and fight in WW2. There has been a lot of exaggeration and bias to make this sound appealing.
In PE this half term, we are going to be developing our skills in gymnastics and we started by practicing different leaps. Everyone tried really hard to show a cat, split and stag leap.
