Year 4 News
Thu 22 May 2025It's the end of term and what a term! We have worked super hard and have some amazing memories. The children have completed a newspaper report about the Viking attack on Lindesfarne and also about an attack on Stapleford by a menacing fire breathing dragon!!!!!! We learned why Alfred the Great was so great too!
Additionally, we have continued to build circuits with switches and also explored which materials are insulators and which are conductors 🙂 The children find magic every time that little bulb lights up !
Well done to Matilda-Rose for being awarded 4 Marshall's Times table Rockstars champion for 5 weeks in a row. Remember the Government Times table check will happen after the holidays. Miss Hubert will work with the children to complete the 25 questions online 🙂 We've had LOTS of practice in school so don't worry.
Aleks and Tyleah- well done for being in Merit assembly on Monday- you absolutely deserve it 🙂
Have a great holiday- take time to have fun and relax... Although we are adding the spellings below! Times table Rockstars and any Anglo Saxon and Viking homework welcomed still before the next topic of the British Isles begins next half term.

Year 3 News
Thu 22 May 2025We have survived another half term! We are so proud of the resilience and behaviour displayed by the children! In this final week, we have watched our seeds become seedlings, thought about what they need to grow into plants and finished our Fairtrade topic with some informative leaflets and posters to showcase our understanding! Have a super half term break and we will see you for the final half term!

Year 5 News
Fri 16 May 2025It has been an unusual week in school this week as Year 5 have been working in the hall due to SATS. This is always a difficult time as we are out of our normal routine but everyone worked incredibly hard and made it much easier for the Year 6 children. This time next year, it will be their turn! In English, we have been busy writing our versions of the Snow Leopard and have been learning about coordinates in maths. We have been learning how to translate shapes and write their new coordinates. In DT, we are so close to finishing our moving toys. It is so great to see the children working together to solve problems and learn about how cam mechanisms work.
Next week is only a four day week due to the INSET day on Friday but we still have our spellings and times table test which will be on Thursday. The spellings for next week are below.

Year 3 News
Fri 16 May 2025Year 3 have written some phenomenal descriptions for our chocolate factory! Miss Brown and Mrs Cave are blown away by their use of powerful vocabulary, fronted adverbials and personification!! We have worked really hard to understand money this week and have started to look at telling the time! Please ensure your child is coming to school with a water bottle and hat!

Year 4 News
Fri 16 May 2025This week, Year 4 s have continued to be busy. In DT and Science, we have been learning about circuits and what it needed to light a bulb, turn a motor or make a buzzer buzz. In English, we have been planning a newspaper report about the Viking attack on Lindesfarne and then travelled back over 1,000 years to meet a real Viking. Yarl Magnus welcomed us and invited us to his longhouse in the countryside. Here, he discussed Viking life, showed us artefacts including swords and shields. We also got to make shelters in the woods, working together in teams to ensure they were as water tight as possible!

Year 6 News
Fri 16 May 2025We did it!!! SATs are done!! A big well done to everyone for the effort they put into each of the tests this week and for being in on time. Breakfast was certainly enjoyed by those who arrived early. As a treat, everyone has enjoyed a wear what you like day as well as a range of activities and snacks.
Next week, we are visiting the library on Thursday afternoon so don't forget your library cards.

Year 6 News
Fri 09 May 2025Another well done for all the hard work and effort that is being put into our revision this week.
On Thursday, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day. We learnt what VE day is and how it was celebrated 80 years ago. Thank you to the parents/carers who came to our parent workshop and contributed to our collage of artwork.
In session 3 of DAaRT, we explored peer pressure and how we can avoid being tempted into doing things we know we shouldn't. In Spanish this week, we learnt lots of new vocabulary, linked to hobbies.
Next week is SATs week. Just a reminder, school will be open from 8am for Year 6's only for breakfast and revision. Please make sure you are all on time. Try to rest and sleep well, ready to show us what you can do. Don't worry! We believe in you all!

Year 5 News
Fri 09 May 2025We had our first visit to the Library this week. It was really lovely watching the children interact with the books and choose some to bring home. We will be going again later on in the term. As well as the library on Thursday, we celebrated VE day in school. In the morning, we explored images from VE day and heard stories from people who were there. We also drew our own VE Day street party scenes using vanishing points. In Science, we conducted an experiment to discover what the saturation point is with sugar and salt. WE are now waiting to see if we can recover the salt and sugar from the solutions.
Next week will be a little different in school due to the Year 6 SATS. This time next year it will be our turn!

Year 4 News
Fri 09 May 2025This week in English, we have continued to try to persuade the Viking King to stay in Scandinavia and not invade Northumberland. We have had to use the features of persuasive writing- rhetorical questions, flattery, exaggeration whilst also considering the features of a letter. Additionally, we have learned about Sutton Hoo and what was left in the burial site for an Anglo-Saxon King.
VE Day was fun- we learned lots! Part of what we learned was how important the Spitfire was in winning WW2. This linked back to our Local History Day from last term when we found out Rolls Royce and the engines they created for many aeroplanes used in battles.
Remember, swimming is on Monday, PE is on Tuesday and next week, we go to Perlethorpe on Thursday. A busy week!

Fri 09 May 2025What a week!!! We have created our own Pop Art in the style of Andy Warhol, started to write our descriptive pieces for our own room in the Chocolate Factory and spent a whole day understanding the importance of VE Day. We have also started to look at money and discover its value!
