5W Update
Fri 20 Nov 2020Over the last week, 5W have been exploring what happens to a crater when a ball is dropped into flour from different heights. There have been some unexpected results which we have plotted onto line graphs using a spreadsheet in Purple Mash. We have started to design jewellery in the style of the ancient civilizations from the Indus Valley. In English, we have been thinking about how to express the emotions of a character.

5M Update
Thu 19 Nov 2020In 5M, we continued to write our spooky stories and have now begun Alma, a tale about a girl, who found a shop window with a doll that resembles her. Curiosity and temptation overwhelm her with dramatic consequences. We are learning about using adjectives and imagery to successfully draw in a reader. In ICT, we drew a line graph, using computer software from the results of an experiment we successfully conducted last Friday afternoon. The Indus Valley topic has been explored further with us learning about when in history this civilisation existed and investigating their jewellery, considering how to shade and use tone in our work.

Update from Year 6 Teachers
Fri 13 Nov 2020Year 6 have enjoyed learning about and remembering those who gave their lives during the world wars and to those who continue to show bravery for our country. We have done this in our English unit and by observing a 2 minute silence on Armistice Day. Year 6 have also enjoyed PE this week, where they have had an outside provider teaching tri- golf to the children. Year 6 have worked extremely hard in everything they have done this week and we are proud of their continued effort.

Fri 13 Nov 2020This week in 5M, we have started the topic of the Indus Valley and have discovered where in the world it was located. We have begun to read a text from as similar time period that was set in Mesopotamia called Gilgamesh. He was the prince of a city and was rather arrogant and unkind. With his true friend we learned how he went to fight the monster Humbaba. The children have also looked at jewellery from the Indus Valley and have used shading appropriately. In English, the children having been using their imaginations to plan and begin to write a spooky story and we can’t wait to finish them next week.

Update from Year 3 teachers
Fri 06 Nov 2020Miss Mercer and Mrs Wright have been so impressed with how well the Year 3s have returned to school this week and their mature and sensible approach to being at school. They have been enjoying the challenges we have been setting them during lessons. Our new Topic is the continent of Asia and this week we have been learning fun facts about China. Our new Science topic is Light and this week we have done a fun experiment using a laser pen and water. This showed us how light is reflected into our eyes.
