Well it's been another HOT week! We've still worked hard on writing a diary from King Arthur about the excitement of his coronation following him pulling out the sword from the stone! We're working on sentence structures, vocabulary, spellings and punctuation. In Maths we have completed the Statistics unit and started position and direction. We also went on our Field Study around Stapleford, looking at how different roads can be similar or different depending on the amenities. We have also delved into local history by studying Rolls Royce and how it came to be.

Remember  that next week is swimming- children need non baggy swim trunks or a swimming costume, a towel, a cap- this is essential and is a rule set by the provider, sliders/ crocs/ flip flops, a bag to put clothes in.... the other children who have experienced this have LOVED it. We hear the excitement every day!

Year 3 have managed this week incredibly well! They have really taken the opportunity to show off everything they have learned this year in their tests and we are all so proud of how well they have done. They have also had a great week spending time in our on-site swimming pool. We have seen some amazing use of all 5R's from every single one of them. Well done year 3 - 2 weeks to go!

This week has been Healthy Living Week and we have been learning about developing healthy habits as well as the importance of good sleep. Everyone has really enjoyed their swimming lessons and we can already see improved confidence and skills. A lot of the children spent 2 days at Bramcote for their transition and it sounds like they had a great time. Those in school found out more about the water cycle in Geography and continued with their work in Spanish.

Remember your swimming kits again next week.

    Have a great weekend,

    Miss Ottowell and Miss Carmichael

Fri 03 Jul 2026 Miss Hubert & Mrs Bishop

We have had a brilliant week in Year 5 with the swimming sessions.  So far, the pool has been a real success and it has been great to see the children swimming every day.  In lessons, we have also looked at how looking after our bodies through getting enough sleep, exercise and personal hygiene is really important.  In science, we looked at reversible and irreversible changes.  We have also completed some of our end of year assessments this week and will finish them after the weekend.

Please see the spelling list for next week below.

This week, we have started a diary of King Arthur's coronation and started a statistics unit. We then worked on our assessments, knowing that an upcoming football game and a heat week may impact these next week. Work on healthy living has also taken place.

We are so proud of the children this week and the start they have made to their end of year tests! They have also become very clear on first aid and how to handle an emergency situation. The know all about the priorities if they haven't seen something happen as well as what to do with cuts, grazes and nosebleeds. The children are really beginning to show us how ready they are for year 4 in many different ways!
