Year 4 News
Fri 16 Jan 2026This week, Year 4 have been writing our headlines and orientations for our newspaper reports based on a true story of mountain rescue on Mount McKinley. In Maths, we have been working more on multiplying and dividing numbers by 10 and 100, involving decimals and have been practising multiplying a two digit number by a single digit. In Topic, we have been locating mountain ranges across Europe and the world and in Science, we conducted an experiment to test the viscosity of different liquids. Below are the spellings for next week to be tested on the following Friday. Handwriting homework will be going home on Friday to be returned by the end of next week. Have a great weekend!

Year 3 News
Fri 16 Jan 2026Great week this week! Year 3 are working hard with their story in English about Erin and the secrets of black rock. In Maths we working on multiplying 2 digit numbers with children really seeing the links between division and multiplication. We have had a lot of rain so P.E has been inside with netball activities and fitness being completed in the hall. History has been about the Romans and how life was for the different classes and in science we have been completing experiments looking at friction. Next weeks spellings are as follows.

Year 6 News
Fri 09 Jan 2026Well done everyone on a busy (and very cold!) first week back. This week has seen us begin our new topic of World War 2. The children were so engaged when learning about the causes of The Second World War and debating whether or not the terms of the Treaty of Versailles were fair to all countries.
In Maths we worked on multiplying and dividing fractions - ask your children about KCF, can they remember what each letter stands for?
We put ourselves in the shoes of George, a war veteran, for our Pobble this week and thought about his memories from his time in the war. We also completed our draft of our Explanation text on how a rainbow is formed and will publish this next week.
A reminder that PE is now Gymnastics on Mondays with Mr. Spencer, and the after-school booster cubs for SATs begin on Monday 12th.

Year 5 News
Fri 09 Jan 2026It was so lovely to welcome all the children back after the Christmas holiday. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas! This week, we have welcomed a new teacher in Year 5 - Mrs Bishop - who will be teaching 5 Bishop until the summer holidays. This term, our focus is the Normans. In English, we have been exploring the features of a debate and next week will be debating who we believe should have been named king after the death of King Edward. In Science, we have started learning about the different parts of a plant and how they reproduce. Despite the arrival of snow, it was fab to see so many children in school today and we hope you all get to have fun in the snow over the weekend.
Please see the spelling list below for the spelling test next week. Your child should have come home with a copy of the homework grid for this term and information about trips and visits related to our topics. If they have not made it home, please see the website or ask for another copy.

Year 4 News
Fri 09 Jan 2026This week in English we have been writing Haiku poetry related to our topic on Mountains, we have looked at syllables and descriptive vocabulary and have produced some lovely poems as a result. In Maths, we are looking at multiplication and division and have looked at factor pairs and multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. In Topic, we have looked at mountain ranges in the UK and in Science we have started our new unit on States of Matter, looking at the properties of solids, liquids and gasses. Below, you will find the spellings to practise in time for our test next Friday and handwriting homework will be send out on Friday and is due in on the following Friday. Have a great weekend.

Year 3 News
Fri 09 Jan 2026Wow, what an end to a fabulous week. Children coped with the snowy day Friday perfectly so credit to them. We have been working hard in English using similes to describe the island in our Secrets of Black Rock class book. In maths the children have worked had on multiplication and achieved some really impressive end of unit scores. We have started netball and tag rugby in P.E and have jumped straight into our Romans unit of work learning about Rome’s founders Romulus and Remus. In science we have conducted our first experiment, looking at different forces. Next week looks a lot warmer so hopefully both P.E lessons will be outdoors. Have a great weekend everyone.
