YEAR 5 CLASS NEWS
Fri 17 Apr 2026Welcome back!
We hope you all had a lovely Easter. The children have settled in to the new school term well. In English, we are studying Macbeth and everyone is really enjoying reading it. They are also enjoying learning about Scotland and have been researching the Loch Ness Monster which has led to some lively discussions about whether or not it is real. In Science, we have started a new topic - properties and changes of materials. This week, we looked at different materials and explored why certain materials are used for different objects. Today, we had our Easter service at St Helens Church. Thank you to all the helpers that came with us. Without your support it would not be possible.
Please see the spelling list below for next week.

Year 5 Class News
Fri 27 Mar 2026What a way to finish the term! Yesterday, we had our Spring term Albany Adventure to the Think Tank museum in Birmingham. The children had fun interacting with the exhibits and learning more about the world. We were very proud of how our children behaved during the day, setting a great example to other schools. In school this week, we created a rainforest poem, using different features of poetry. For example, rhyming couplets, anaphora and epistrophe. The finished pieces were fantastic! After Easter, we will be focusing on Scotland in Geography and materials and their properties in Science. We hope you all have a lovely Easter!

Year 6 News
Fri 20 Mar 2026The Year 6 children at Hagg Farm have had a fantastic week, taking part in a range of activities including abseiling and rock hopping. We can't wait to hear about their adventures when they return to school next week.
In school, we completed our Easter RE unit of work and had some brilliant discussions about whether Jesus is the Messiah, using bible stories to help us reach our conclusions. We then thought about what a modern day messenger would say or do. I was really impressed with the morals shown in everyone's responses. We have also been learning about the Titanic in some of our Reading and Maths lessons. We worked in groups to try and decide who was to blame for the Titanic sinking and justified our opinions.
Next week, we have the Albany Adventure to look forward to in the final week of the term.
Enjoy the weekend,
Miss Ottowell
