  • Evidencing the impact of the School Sports Premium

    Wed 04 Apr 2018 Mr.Robertson
Please have a look at Miss Richards' excellent report on how we have prioritized the money we are allocated, spent it and what the impact has been on the curriculum and also the attitudes of our children to regular sport and activity. Its very detailed but shows what an excellent job Miss Richards and Mr Tivey have done in broadening our offer of different sports to all children but also getting different children active on a regular basis. To find it look on the 'Key Information' tab then the 'PE and Healthy Living' tab. The report is at the top of this thread.
  • Easter Egg Decorating Competition

Thu 29 Mar 2018 Mr Robertson

    Easter Egg Decorating

Many thanks for the fabulous entries for our Easter Egg Decorating Competition. We had 55 entries this year, which is the most we have ever had in my time here. Mrs Ellis and Miss Weatherall found it very hard judging because of the amazing standard. It was a fabulous way to finish the term. Have a restful holiday from us all at Albany Juniors.

  • Smarties Challenge

Thu 15 Feb 2018 Miss Gibson

On Wednesday 14th February, pupils in Year 6 were set the 'smarties challenge'. During Spring and Summer term, pupils in Year 6 will be fundraising towards the cost of an end of year treat. The first event is the ‘smarties challenge’. Pupils have been gifted a tube of smarties (which they are welcome to enjoy!). In return, pupils are asked to use the tube to collect as many 20ps as possible. All the money raised will go towards the cost of an overnight camping residential – Wildthings Summer Camp – which will take place in July on the school grounds. Please return the tubes by Tuesday 6th March 2018. Many thanks for your support. Miss Gibson and Mr Tivey

Fri 26 May 2017 Miss Gibson

Day for Change: 24th May 2017

On Wednesday 24th May we took part in the UNICEF Day for Change. This year we were hoping to reach our target of £400 - to provide 16 malnourished children with a month's supply of life-saving emergency food.

On the day children wore blue and donated a £1.00 for the privilege. During morning break the Rights Respecting Ambassadors and staff ran a cake sale. We are also ran a class competition SMALL CHANGE: BIG DIFFERENCE. The class collecting the largest amount of small change was 6G and the class who created the best design from the money collected was 5M. Well done to both classes, who have received their reward this afternoon.

I'm delighted to tell you that we beat our target, raising money as follows.....

    Non Uniform - £164
    Cake Sale - £97.45
Small Change: Big Difference - £149.33

    Giving a total of £410. 78

  • Easter in Poland Assembly

Wed 19 Apr 2017 Mr. Robertson
Today the children were lucky enough to learn about Easter customs in Poland. Beata and Dorota from the Polish Centre in Lenton came in and spoke to the children in assembly today. The children listened brilliantly, asked good questions and learnt some Polish greetings. Please see the photos below.
  • Water Safety Assembly - 27.3.17

Tue 28 Mar 2017 Mr. Robertson
On Monday 27th March we were visited by Richard and Geraldine from the Canal and Rivers Trust. • Christmas Fayre

Mon 12 Dec 2016 Miss Gibson
Many thanks to you all for your fantastic support at our annual Christmas Fayre. Whether you donated items, baked cakes, sent money in with your child or attended tonight - I can't thank you all enough. We made £720 (the most I have known in my 7 years at Albany!) On behalf of myself, the staff and pupils I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
  • Non-uniform Day

Fri 25 Nov 2016 Miss Gibson

It’s getting to that time of year again!

Our Christmas Fair takes place on Monday 12th December from 2:45-3:25 (for children) 3:25 – 4:30 (for all other visitors). In order to make this a successful event, I write asking for your help!

Every year we run a raffle, make hampers and run a tombola stall. This year we are asking for your donations in a slightly different way. We would appreciate any donations of chocolate – which can be boxes, bars, selection boxes, gifts for children/adults and bottles (anything from shampoo to champagne!) To encourage the children to bring in these items, we are holding a non-uniform day where pupils may wear their own clothes in exchange for one of the following items:-

    Chocolate (no nut products please)

    Children’s gifts / Gifts for grown-ups

    Bottle / Hamper donation.

The non-uniform day will take place on Thursday 1st December. We politely request that pupils do not wear football kit.

Please hand all donations to your class teacher.

As in previous years, there will be a number of stalls including:-tombola, raffle, Santa’s grotto, arts & crafts, home baking and much more.

Further details about the event will follow. If you require further information or would like to run your own stall (stall cost = £5, plus a donation for the raffle) please contact the school office.
