  • Update from Year 6 Teachers

Fri 13 Nov 2020 Miss Frost

Year 6 have enjoyed learning about and remembering those who gave their lives during the world wars and to those who continue to show bravery for our country. We have done this in our English unit and by observing a 2 minute silence on Armistice Day. Year 6 have also enjoyed PE this week, where they have had an outside provider teaching tri- golf to the children. Year 6 have worked extremely hard in everything they have done this week and we are proud of their continued effort.

  • 5M Update

Fri 13 Nov 2020 Miss Frost

This week in 5M, we have started the topic of the Indus Valley and have discovered where in the world it was located. We have begun to read a text from as similar time period that was set in Mesopotamia called Gilgamesh. He was the prince of a city and was rather arrogant and unkind. With his true friend we learned how he went to fight the monster Humbaba. The children have also looked at jewellery from the Indus Valley and have used shading appropriately. In English, the children having been using their imaginations to plan and begin to write a spooky story and we can’t wait to finish them next week.

  • Update from Year 3 teachers

    Fri 06 Nov 2020
Miss Mercer and Mrs Wright have been so impressed with how well the Year 3s have returned to school this week and their mature and sensible approach to being at school. They have been enjoying the challenges we have been setting them during lessons. Our new Topic is the continent of Asia and this week we have been learning fun facts about China. Our new Science topic is Light and this week we have done a fun experiment using a laser pen and water.  This showed us how light is reflected into our eyes.
  • Update from Year 6 teachers

    Fri 06 Nov 2020

A fantastic start back in Year 6 and it has been so lovely to see everyone.  In English, we have been looking at some well-known war poetry in preparation for Remembrance Day next week.  In maths, we have been working hard on long division, which has been tough, but the children have persevered and are doing really well.

  • Updates from Year 4 Teachers

Fri 06 Nov 2020 Miss Frost

It has been brilliant to see everyone back in school this week and getting straight back into their work. In Science, we found out what types of teeth we have and why they are different. We used mirrors to thoroughly explore the teeth that we have. In reading, we became Howard Carter, the archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb and enjoyed miming his actions, to show our understanding. There were some super acting skills! We have now completed our Ancient Egypt topic and next week, we will start our new topic all about South Africa.

  • Update from Mrs Marshall 5M

Fri 06 Nov 2020 Miss Frost

It was great to be back on Tuesday in front of a full class of smiling children, who were ready to learn again at the start of this new half term. We have focused on finishing the America topic by investigating human and physical features of this country and why the times are different on the East and West coasts (time zones). The art sculptures were painted and we searched further into space, learning about the seasons and why we have them.
