Year 4 Class News

This week in Maths we have been working on Roman numerals and rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. In our Independent Writing session, we wrote a set of instructions on how to build a pyramid, using our knowledge of instructional writing from our English lessons. In Topic, we learnt about ancient Egyptian daily life, what they ate, drank, work and what activities they enjoyed doing in their spare time. In Science, we learnt about the fascinating discoveries of William Beaumont. We learnt that he discovered stomach acid alone can digest food by conducting an experiment with a patient who had a hole to his stomach through a wound. We also have finished making our Shadufs in DT - they look great! On Friday, we went to Church for our Harvest Festival service where we were able to reflect on gratitude, thanksgiving, and the importance of community. Next week we are swimming so please make sure we have our swimming kits for Monday - we will still be swimming each day. The spellings for next week are below. Have a lovely weekend!
