Fri 31 Mar 2023 Miss Hubert and Miss Stephenson

We have had a fantastic week in Year 5.  On Monday, we got to finish out batiks.  The children worked really hard to carefully use melted wax to add their flower design to their silk.  They then used a special ink to add and blend colour to their flowers.  The end results were amazing!  On Tuesday, we had a whole school visit to St Helens Church for an Easter service where children made a wish for the future.  Thursday was our Easter disco afterschool and it was so lovely to see so many children dancing away.  Today has been a brilliant day.  We have been finishing off our topics for the term and this afternoon was the end of term behaviour treat.  We are so proud of how fantastic our children and it was great to see so many Year five children in the hall celebrating their positive behaviour choices this term.  We hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter!

Fri 31 Mar 2023 Miss S Ottowell & Mr Tivey

The final week of this term has been a busy one! We visited St Helen's Church for our Easter service, which linked to our RE work, where we thought about the sacrifice that Jesus made and why Easter is an important celebration for Christians. In DT, we designed our fairground rides and began making them. It was lovely to invite adults into class, to help out too during our parent workshop. It hasn't been easy and we have had to persevere with a few different challenges but they are looking great and they move! After Easter, we will finish these off by adding extra details to them.

After half term, PE for Year 6 will be on Tuesdays. We hope you all have a lovely Easter break.

We have also been finishing the Mayan and Science topics ready to start learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and also Electricity.

Happy Holidays... wishing you all a wonderful Easter.

Year 3 have been very busy this week, from visits to the church to science day, I am sure they are going to come home very tired. They also had fun at the disco with their friends. New homework tasks are coming out today for our new topic: Roman Britain. We hope you all have a lovely Easter holidays and we will see you after the break. Miss Tilley and Mrs Cave.

Year 3 had a busy week! Miss Tilley was away but we all managed really well! We have researched for our Roald Dahl biographies, in science we tested filters on how to clean muddy water and in maths we have started to look at capacity and volume!

Lots of the children have been to Hagg Farm this week on their residential trip. We can't wait to hear all about their adventures.

This week has been a bit different for the children, who have been in school. All of our work has been based on the Titanic. We have looked at evidence, to try and work out who was to blame for the disaster but we all had different theories. We also learnt more about the passengers, who were on the Titanic and created brilliant pieces of artwork, using watercolours. To end the week, we have made our own books, adding in information we have learnt.

Fri 24 Mar 2023 Miss Hubert

It has been a quite week in upper school with half of Year 6 away at Hagg Farm.  It was a lovely start to the week with our special Mother's Day breakfast.  It was fab to see so many mums and other family members in school.  In class, we have been busy working on our diary entries about the whole school trip to Twycross Zoo and exploring line graphs in maths.  We are coming to the end of our unit on life cycles in science and rainforests.  Today, we have been learning about the people of the Amazon, looking at how their lives compare to ours.

Fri 24 Mar 2023 Miss Weatherall

While Mrs Marshall has been enjoying herself at Hagg Farm this week, Miss Weatherall has been teaching in year 4. We have had a wonderful week and the Year 4s have been fantastic, very well behaved and hard working. We have been planning and beginning to write our very own folktale, which we have based on our Mayan Folktale 'The Chocolate Tree'. The ideas and vocabulary the year 4s have come up with is fantastic. I cannot wait to read the finished folktales. We have also been completing our beautiful Mayan masks in our art lessons. They are all looking superb.

What a fabulous week! We loved being at the zoo, and we have created our Fairtrade silhouettes! Thank you to everyone that sent in wrappers and to those that attended our parent workshop!

We have had a busy week with test week and the children have all worked really hard. On Wednesday we had a great day at the Zoo and saw lots of animals (including many rainforest animals) that we have never seen before. On Friday afternoon, we also had our parent workshop and have made some wonderful videos about deforestation in tropical rainforests, explaining why it is happening and the effects of it. Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend.
