I am really pleased to be able to welcome you to the Albany Junior School website. I cannot believe I have been here for over two years already. It has gone so fast. We really hope that you find this website up to date and easy to navigate.
You can see information about our Vision and Values, Clubs and our recent fund raising events. Each teacher is currently adding information about what their class will be doing this year. You will also find details about Enrichment, the Curriculum and E-Safety.
The Latest News section is one you will continue to see regularly updated by different members of staff. We have recently added information about the Prevent Duty which each school has. We have a duty to prevent our children from damaging ideologies which may lead them to become radicalised into performing violent acts. All staff and governors have had training on this over the past year. Children in years 4 and 6 will receive lessons in this coming half term.
We are very proud of our school. Our children are making good progress and developing well as indivuduals, ready for the next steps in their learning. The HMI visit in December 2015 showed that we are a 'good' school which is getting better all the time. Our Ofsted inspection in October 2016 confirmed this and that we are outstanding in how we provide well being and care for the children. Our SATS results in July 2016 were not as good as we might have liked. However, our progress was good in Reading and Writing. Our Ofsted showed that we are doing the right things in order to improve our maths results and progress over time. Children in years 3-5 made good progress in all subjects. We are currently putting the results of our analysis of these results into practise with staff training and some training for parents. We have had a maths workshop already in January 2017 with a grammar session planned in for March 3rd.
