We are looking forward to the last few days of term where children can wear their Christmas jumpers with school uniform bottoms. There will be finishing off to do and Christmas activities and maybe even a Christmas party on Tues pm (no different party clothes or food needed from home).

This week has been exciting as we have begun our lead up to the Christmas Pantomime by starting to read a version of Snow White and describe characters and settings in more detail.  We will be considering the feelings of different characters and writing their diary entries. More rehearsals have been taking place for the Christmas Concert and we look forward th the events to come. It was lovely to meet lots of parents on Tuesday night too.

Year three have started a unit of work on traditional tales. They have focussed on Snow White as they will be attending the Pantomime next Thursday in Nottingham. They have written instructions for the cleaning of the dwarves house, written speech to the Magic Mirror and written about the history of pantomimes. They have really enjoyed learning about slapstick comedy and all the different characters involved in a panto. Please encourage the children to learn their songs for their performance. They can be found on our school website.

What a week! We had an amazing start with our very own football World Cup.  On Monday, Year 5 and 6 all took part in a football tournament.  It was lovely to see all the children supporting each other and trying their best to win for their team.  On Tuesday, we took part in the Road To Riat.  This was a STEM workshop where the children worked together to make a rocket and design a sustainable aircraft.  The best design will be chosen and sent off to the Smallpeice Trust to be entered in a competition.  We had some special visitors in school on Wednesday.  Two wonderful reindeers came and all the children had the opportunity to see them and have a talk from two of Santa's Elves.  Yesterday was our Christmas Fayre and it was brilliant.  It was so lovely to see the school looking so festive and opening the doors to everyone to come and celebrate with us.

This week has been extremely exciting as Christmas has arrived. Seeing the deer was especially exhilarating and we loved listening to the elves talking about them. The Christmas Fayre was lots of fun and we are thrilled the elf has arrived in our classroom! Mrs Cave is not so excited!!!!!

Of course, we are still learning about South Africa and the importance of Nelson Mandela and concluded that vinegar had an extreme effect on the egg shells.
