Year 4 Latest News
Fri 25 Mar 2022This week, it was 4M's turn to go to the allotment. We had such nice weather for this and it was lovely to get out in the sunshine, hunting for different mini beasts. 4H finally got to do their Science afternoon based of Alice in Wonderland. They have produced some great work.
In English, we have been looking at a Mayan folktale and adapting the story to create our own modern version. It's been great to see how imaginative the children have been.

Year 5 Latest News
Fri 18 Mar 2022This week, we have completed reading, maths, spelling and grammar assessments. The children tried really hard and we will let you know how they did at parents' evening on the 28th March. In topic, we found out how deforestation is affecting animals and the world around us before making super eye-catching posters. We had a fun Science afternoon, based on Alice in Wonderland. We used plastic bottles and cone mice, to investigate forces and how Alice managed to get the character Little Bill up the chimney and how we could make him get as high as possible. We will update you on the Zoolabs visit in next week's news!

Fri 18 Mar 2022This week was test week and we're so pleased with how hard Year 4 have worked. 4M had a Science afternoon which was all based on Alice in Wonderland while 4H took a trip to the allotment where we went pond dipping and mini beast hunting! We've also learnt about the Ancient Maya number system that they invented and have been working out calculations with their numbers.

Year 6 Latest News
Fri 11 Mar 2022Yesterday, Thursday 10 March, the year 6 visited the Holocaust Centre. We have really enjoyed the WWII topic up to now and it was important that the children understood further just how the Jewish population was discriminated against during the second world war. The children were respectful towards each other and towards where they were throughout the day and they behaved impeccably. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day had by all and we cannot wait to go again next year.

Year 5 Latest News
Thu 10 Mar 2022This week in Year 5, we have experimented with different art mediums, including combining wax and watercolours. In topic, we discovered how rainforest animals have adapted, to survive in their habitats. We have continued our work on decimals and we have started learning about percentages, thinking about where we see them being used. In preparation for assessment week, we have been focusing on grammar, including apostrophes and word classes.

Thu 10 Mar 2022This week we have been finding out more about the Ancient Mayans and have discovered their love of chocolate- despite it being a liquid form flavoured with chilli.
The children have also started to practice for their times table check in the summer using our new laptops. If you want to practice at home the link can be found by googling mathsframe times table test.

Fri 04 Mar 2022This week in Year 4, we started to design our Mayan mask ready to start create them next week. We also had fun on World Book Day creating our own book based on the Getaway with Fingers McGraw. In Music, we have started to learn to play the recorder and have been learning how to play different notes. We've also enjoyed having Mr Riley teaching dance in PE. We were really impressed with how quickly the children were picking up the moves.

Year 6 Latest News
Fri 04 Mar 2022We have had a lovely week in year 6. On Thursday, to celebrate World Book Day, all the children made their own book about World War Two. We have been learning about WW2 all term so it has been a lovely way to put it all together before our trip to the National Holocaust Centre next week. In DT, we have started gathering our resources together to begin planning and making our own carousel.

Fri 04 Mar 2022Year 3 have had a really great World Book Day. We have shared our favourite books and then done lots of research on Roald Dahl. We have produced some excellent work and done a chronological timeline of his life, written our favourite quotes from his books and drawn characters in the style of Quentin Blake. We hope you enjoy looking at them when they are on the website.
