Fri 16 Oct 2020 Miss Frost

    Hello Year 4,

We hope you and your families are all OK. Thank you to those children who have joined me on Teams this week. It has been a very different teaching experience but I hope you found it useful. We can't wait to see your smiling faces back in the classroom after half term. Stay safe.

Year three have had a great week. They have written some fabulous expanded noun phrases in English and written instructions for a new machine for Wallace and Gromit. They have finished their topic on Continents and Oceans and enjoyed building bridges this afternoon as part of their D.T. work.

The year 6s, this week, have been enjoying painting Greek Pottery they have already made. The children love doing Art and DT with Miss Weatherall and we think they can all be really proud of the work they have done. Well done year 6! Keep it up next week.

Year 3 have started their new Maths topic this week and are starting to learn how to cross over 10 when adding and subtracting. In English, we have been learning about instructions and fronted adverbials of time. The children have enjoyed learning about different landmarks all over the world in our Topic lesson this week and have been deciding which ones they’d like to visit the most!

  • Update from Mrs Cave & Miss Woolley 5W

Fri 09 Oct 2020 Miss Frost

Henry Moore sculptures are now well underway with their first coat of modroc. The children have also been writing scientific reports about mythical creatures. The banded Lumy-Pod Beetle, The Thanotoroel and the Scorpticus are a few fine examples.

  • Update from Mrs Marshall 5M

Fri 09 Oct 2020 Miss Frost

In 5M this week, we have ventured out into space in English and found another solar system. One of the moons orbiting the planet Polyphemus contained 6 legged bioluminescent creatures. We have been enjoying creating our own creature and writing a non-chronological report describing the creature and other information about it. In Art, the children started to use Mod roc to provide a hard outer layer to their sculptures.

  • Update from Year 4 Teachers

Fri 09 Oct 2020 Miss Frost

This week in Science we made a comic strip about the journey of digestion where we used thought bubbles and speech bubbles to animate and bring the part of digestion to life.

In DT next week we will finally be making our shadufs that we have been planning for the last couple of weeks. In preparation for this we have been cutting the wood with saws making sure we measure this correctly beforehand.

  • Update from Year 6 Teachers

Fri 02 Oct 2020 Miss Frost

On Thursday, Year 6 had a virtual Teams meeting with Mrs York from Friesland Secondary School.  She spoke to the children about the school and how much she was looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.  All the children listened well and asked really important questions.

This week we have moved onto the four operations in maths and had the opportunity to explore some of Wilfred Owen's war poetry as well as Allan Ahlberg's well known poem 'Please Mrs Butler'.  They had great fun coming up with their own humorous versions.
