Year 3 have had a really good week practising for sports day. It would be really helpful if they could try more skipping and egg (potato) and spoon balancing at home. Lots of them were very tired when running so maybe they could do a bit of running too! Thanks for your support. Really appreciate it.

This week we have continued learning about The Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We learned that the Angles, Saxons and Vikings all invaded Britain from countries in Europe. Did you know the song London's Bridge is falling down is about a Viking attack by a Viking called Olaf? Olaf tied ropes to the wooden legs of the bridge and the ships when English soldiers were firing down. He rowed away quickly and the bridge fell down!

We have also started to consider how a net to create a torch could be created and had a go at making different nets. We have started creating and investigating electrical circuits in Science.

Hopefully, we will have some sunshine over the weekend and we wish you a great Bank Holiday.

This week, we have started a new English unit, looking at balanced arguments. Does the Loch Ness Monster exist? What do you think? We have found reasons for and against, ready for next week. In Maths, we have continued our work on decimals, adding and subtracting these, using different methods.

5O had their first swimming session on Monday, which was very exciting. Everyone was assessed so that they can get straight in the pool next time. The instructors were really impressed that everyone had the correct kit.

Another busy week preparing for SATS in Year 6; everyone is trying their best and working really hard.  It was lovely to get outside today and begin our annual 6H vs 6T Scatterball competition!!!  We have started our topic on Scandinavia this week and classification and inheritance in science.  The children should have come home this week with a letter about the Year 6 breakfast club during SATS week.  Monday to Thursday, the Year 6 children will be encouraged to arrive from 8am to have breakfast and speak with the Year 6 team.

It has been lovely to see the Year 4s back at school this week and we are looking forward to a busy and exciting term ahead. Our topic is the Vikings (there is a trip in May linked to this and letters will be given out next week) and in Science we will be finding out about electricity. A reminder that PE days are now Monday and Tuesday. Have a lovely weekend. Hopfully the sun will continue to shine.

It was so lovely to see the children on Tuesday after two weeks off.  We hope you all had a lovely Easter.  This week, the children have been working really hard preparing for SATS that start on the 9th May.  In maths and English, we have been busy revising and focusing on aspects of SPAG and maths the children find a little tricky.  On Thursday afternoon, we went to St Helens Church for our Easter Service.  It was the first one in two years so it was so lovely to get back there and celebrate with the Church.  Thank you to the adults that came with us, we really could not do it without your support.

We have had a really busy start to the term. We had a brilliant time at White Post Farm, holding, stroking and feeding a range of animals such as goats, lambs and a lizard. Everyone enjoyed the tractor and trailer ride around the farm too, getting a better view of the farm animals. We also visited St Helen's Church for our Easter service. All of the children demonstrated our 5Rs on both trips.

Year 3 have had a really positive start back to the Summer term. We are finishing our Fractions topic in Maths and the next topic will be Time. It would be really helpful for the children to learn to tell the time using a watch with hands rather than digital. We are writing diary entries in English. Our new topic is the Ancient Rome and the children have already started to bring in some fabulous homework. We are studying plants in Science and will be completing some investigations over the next few weeks. An exciting term!
