  • 5W Update

Fri 18 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

5W have been investigating how the size of a parachute affects the speed at which it falls and thinking about how air resistance plays a part in what they have found. They have been singing Christmas songs enthusiastically and will be looking at how Christmas is celebrated around the world.

  • 5M Update

Fri 18 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

Happy Christmas! We made it! This week has still been a busy week completing our 100 word story entries for the Young Writer's 'A Wander in the Woods' competition. We needed to cut out words from our story without losing the gist of the story or description added. In Maths, we recapped time and we were able to complete the Indus Valley topic and clay jewellery in Humanities and Art. Science was fun as we made parachutes to test air resistance. We finally finished reading the book Holes and so also watched the film. As well as this, Christmas continued with the elf up to his usual mischief, films and Christmas 'party' afternoon. Have a well deserved holiday, which I hope is filled with a few delicious treats 🙂

  • 5M Update

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

This week 5M have been using the skills they have learned over the last few weeks to write a story set in the woods. The idea is that we will edit the stories to make them just 100 words and some of us may enter the Young Writer's competition ('Through the Woods'). The children have also enjoyed painting their clay beads, using colours that may have been used in the Indus Valley. We enjoyed watching a Christmas film and having our Christmas lunch as well as wondering what the elf will get up to next!

  • Year 6 Update

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

This week year 6 have been learning all the skills in order to write a biography. We will be completing a full biography on Queen Victoria next week as part of our Victorians Topic. During the later parts of this week, we have enjoyed our Christmas jumper day with a Christmas film at lunch time, followed by a pantomime in the afternoon. The children enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit and finished the week off well. We are looking forward to the last week of term.

  • 5W Update

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

This week, 5W have painted their Indus Valley jewellery. The photos show some of the finished work. In English, the children have been writing 100 word stories, trying to make an entire story fit within 100 words and making decisions about what can be missed out and which words are the most important. In their computing lesson, the children have started to develop their word processing skills.

  • Year 3 Update

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

This week, Year 3 have been starting to learn about India as part of our Asia topic. We have been looking at the physical and human features across 3 different cities and have been comparing them. Ask your child if they can remember which cities we have been looking at! In Maths, we are still looking at Multiplication and Division but have been really focussing on the 8x table. Please keep practising this at home! We are so impressed with how hard the children are working even with the two naughty elves causing some distractions!!

  • Year 4 Update

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

In English lessons this week, we found out what it might be like to visit South Africa before writing a diary entry, explaining what a day of our holiday might be like. Some of us wanted to reach the summit of Table Mountain while others wanted to see the African penguins or the the 'big 5' animals.

In Science, we discovered the effects that the liquids had on the egg shells (our enamel). Vinegar caused the most damage with orange juice and coke causing a little bit less. Lots of super posters were created too with advice and top tips for how to look after our teeth.

  • Disability Awareness Bows - THANK YOU!

Fri 04 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

Just want to say a massive thank you to all of the children who have helped me by colouring in and decorating the awareness bows. Lloyds Bank in Beeston have displayed these ALL OVER their bank, and they look amazing! It has really helped them to raise awareness for their fundraising for many different charities that help those with disabilities. You all worked very hard and there were some very thoughtful submissions. Here are some pictures of the displays. Well done Albany for all pulling together to help out for this wonderful cause - I knew I could  rely on you!

  • Year 3 Update

Fri 04 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

What a week for Year 3. Tests, tests and more tests! Well done to the children for their really excellent behaviour and their resilience. We have been looking at a unit of RE all about how different religions use light. The naughty elf has also been up to mischief and even tried to tell the children the answers to the spelling test. I think we all deserve a good rest this weekend.

  • Year 6 Update

Fri 04 Dec 2020 Miss Frost

This week, year 6 have taken part in their assessment week. It has been a week full of expectation of showcasing our 5rs. The children have been impeccably behaved throughout the week and have shown plenty of resilience,  taken many risks and taken responsibility for their own learning. We are extremely proud in the way they have conducted themselves throughout the week, also being respectful towards other year groups undertaking the same tasks.
