It has been a great week in Year 5.  It is really exciting to see our DT projects progressing and we are really looking forward to next week when we get to get very messy with the Modroc!  Next week, we will be focusing on RE and looking at inspirational people.  In English, we have been studying the book 'Hidden Figures' looking at four inspirational women who helped send men into space!

This week has been especially exciting as Queen Cleopatra visited our class and we spent a day learning about her and the Egyptian people. We especially enjoyed learning an ancient Egyptian board game called mancala, dancing, playing with whips and tops and mummifying a body. It was great fun!

  • Year 4 News

    Mon 03 Oct 2022

In Year 4, the children have been learning more about the Egyptians and know there was a hierarchy of importance. Slaves were the least important and had an array of manual, difficult jobs to do. The Pharaoh was the most important and was supported by his Vizier. It was also discovered that when Pharaoh's died they were buried in a tomb of treasures and most of these tombs were robbed by tomb robbers seeking for riches. The penalty for discovery was death! We have also designed our own Shaduf.

In Science, we have experimented with how bile from the gall bladder disperses fat so it easier to digest, using water and washing up liquid and learned about Pavlov, who became famous for his work on the digestive system of dogs.

And, very excitingly, we have started to practice some songs for the Christmas performance with Mrs Wooley.

  • Year 3 News

    Mon 03 Oct 2022

Year 3 have been learning about Spanish greetings this week. Please get them to practise at home and maybe teach you a few! They have been testing whether all metals are magnetic. They have ordered numbers beyond 1000 in Maths and have been learning about adverbs within sentences in English. Their cricketing skills are improving and we had a few good batters this week.
