This week has been exciting in Year 4. We started the week with Sports Day which was our first one at Albany Juniors. The whole Year 4 team are so proud of all of the children who took part. They showed that they were resilient in overcoming challenging events. We also started Art Day on Tuesday, looking at outdoor activities and sports. We will be making our final sculptures out of wire on Friday. On Thursday, we got to make our sandwiches that we have been planning this half term. It was lovely to sit outside to taste them and evaluate our product. We were also really excited to find out who are new teachers will be for Year 5.

The whole Year 4 team are so proud of the children for their hard work this year, they haven't had a smooth sailing year but they have still managed to make excellent progress.

Year 3 had a really exciting Maths day on Tuesday. The theme was the Olympic games. We went outside to order a human timeline putting all the previous Olympic games in date order. We cracked codes about the mystery of the Winter Olympic Bobsleigh sabotage. We used coordinates to uncover various equipment used in the games. We used challenge cards to solve tricky word problems in groups and used addition and subtraction including fractions, to solve a riddle. The children really enjoyed the day and it was lovely to see all the maths they had learned being used in context.

This week, we have enjoyed Maths Day with the theme of the Olympics (finding out about the history and Japan, which is this year's location). Some beautifully drawn symmetrical flags were created and the children had a go at answering various challenges set. We have started to look at inspirational people and what makes a good leader. In Science, thermal conductivity has been investigated. We are now looking forward to a Sports Day and Spanish day in the next couple of weeks.

We have had a busy week, completing all of the tests. We are so proud of everyone for working hard and trying their best. A big well done! In science, we made our own pan pipes and flutes from straws, which helped us to learn about pitch and why sounds are high or low. We are doing really well in Spanish too and we can now say the date of special events, including our birthdays! We're really looking forward to healthy living week next week.

The Year 5s have had their Summer assessments this week and ,especially considering how different the environment has been for them, have remained positive and have worked really hard. They should be proud of themselves. The children are still enjoying practical Science sessions- last week was focused on reversible and irreversible changes. They have learned more about Henry VIII and why he had 6 wives as well as making a great effort drawing him.
