Year 3 are adjusting well to learning online again for the final part of the Spring term. We had a fantastic Easter Disco Day on Thursday despite not being at school. We had a session enjoying our story 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' in our pjs for the first session! Just before lunch, we had a scavenger hunt finding all sorts of weird and wonderful things in our houses! The children enjoyed racing around and showing each other what they had found! In the afternoon, we played some fun Easter games and we even managed to have a disco at home!! As always, we are so proud as to how resilient our Year 3s are being!

This week, 5M have had another busy week starting a new unit of argument and persuasion, where we got to try to convince Mrs Marshall of our point of view regarding some rather silly arguments such as whether the goat had the right to tip trap over the troll's bridge and whether the gingerbread man had the right to be free! In topic, we investigated the devasting effects of deforestation and have started a poster about this topic. The most exciting day of the week was most definitely EASTER DISCO DAY as we got to dance and enjoy some real FUN in school in what seems like AGES! There's some great dancers in Year 5!

Year 3 have had a fantastic week culminating on Friday with our crazy hair day raising money for Comic Relief! We have been continuing to learn all about fractions in Maths. Please use any opportunity you have at home to talk about the different fractions we use all the time in every day life! We know the children enjoy talking about how we can split food up into different fractions. We are looking forward to the Easter Disco Day and Science afternoon which is coming up next week!

Year 4 have been settling back into school well and we are impressed with how hard they have been working. We have been writing our own modern version of Jack and the Beanstalk in English. Our topic this half term is the Ancient Mayans and we have been making our own Mayan masks in Art. We have been layering up cardboard and gluing them together. Next week we will be ready to paint them!

In 5W, this week, we have been learning about the layers of the rainforest. Mrs. Limb created a leaf which was 7m across to show us how big leaves can grow in the forest canopy. We’ve started to learn about wax resistance techniques for batik too and in music, we’ve found out what a pentatonic scale is. Well done everyone for working hard over the last couple of weeks!

We have welcomed year 6 back into the classroom and so far, we have had a good start with getting the children settled back into the classroom. We have continued with our World War II topic and in DT, we have made modal Spitfires. As we have not been in school for a while, we have made it a priority to help the children with their mental health and well-being. We have therefore undertaken many different activities centered around making the children feel better as well as taking part in some enriching PE activities such as Golf, Archery and Scatter ball. The year 6's have settled in well and we continue to be proud of the way they conduct themselves around the school.
