How has the summer term arrived already? So many things to look forward to... Antartica week (a follow up from Antartica Day, which was a transition event with The Bramcote School in the Spring term- remember the books that are produced will be judged by the Deputy Head teacher of the school and prizes WILL be given!), Sports Day, Art Day, a Spelling Bee, Tudor Day and a field trip around Stapleford to compare our locality with a town on the outskirts of Edinburgh (Polbeth).

We will be introducing Miss Pearman in Class 4/5 P ( used to be Class 4/ 5 R) amd some of your children will be taught by her in Writing, Spelling, Reading or in Interventions as we work to meet all of the children's needs.

PE will be on a Thursday and a Friday afternoons. Please ensure that kit is in school.

Homework is given on a Friday most weeks. Homework consists of learning a times table that will be tested the following Friday. There may be a sheet accompanying this, but not necessarily. We do encourage the children to practice times tables regularly as they are so important in so many areas of Maths.

A helpful link could be: https://www.timestables.co.uk/

Spellings are also given out weekly. These will either be based on the 100 words or a spelling pattern taught previously, which may also include some of the hundred words. The children have spelling books and should practice their spellings in them.

Children are still encouraged to read at home. If you hear your child read (anything), please sign their Partnership Book.

Learning logs also go out once each half term. Their are lots of different activities for the children to have a go at. We only ask for two activities to be completed and smilies are awarded :~)

Our topics will be Scotland in the first half term (Knowledge Organiser and homework below) and in the second half term, it will be the Tudors. In Science, 'Materials and its Properties' will be the focus, which will involve lots of experiments to fascinate and inspire :-)
